  In Remembrance

Dorothy Maxine (Crane) Corporon departed this life on January 10, 2004 .  A resident of the Collegeport area for most of her life, she came here in 1925 with her mother.  In 1930, she married R. L. “Dick” Corporon and they resided in the Citrus Grove Community where they were engaged in farming and ranching.  Here they raised their five children.  Dorothy’s special talent was her music—particularly playing the piano.  She began sharing her talents in the Presbyterian Church in 1925, where she served as pianist for over 75 years.  Dorothy taught in the Citrus Grove School where she organized a rhythm band for the children.  She also played the piano for and worked with the Girl Reserves of the YWCA at Collegeport.  The Corporons were active in the community and were recognized as Collegeport Man and Woman of the Year in 1988.  She is fondly remembered by all in our community.

THE MARKER DEDICATION designating Collegeport Cemetery as a TEXAS HISTORIC CEMETERY was attended by approximately 60 persons last Collegeport Day, May 31, 2003 .  Marker is located on the corner of FM 1095 and County Road 364
