Collegeport Day May 30, 1981

Residents of Collegeport and the surrounding areas will mark the 73rd
anniversary of the founding of Collegeport during the Annual
Collegeport Day to be held May 30th.
The Woman’s Club of Collegeport, organized in 1910, has sponsored
the Collegeport celebration continuously over the years according to
Mrs. Dean Merck.
Collegeport was founded on May 25 of 1908 and the event has been
held on the last Saturday in May for years.
Mrs. Gus Franzen reported that the celebration will be held at the
Mopac House and will offer residents and former residents and
friends the opportunity for plenty of visiting and reminiscing
before and after the covered dish meal.
The first Collegeport Day celebration was held in a tent. Others have been in the Collegeport Hotel, the pavilion and the First Federated Church of Collegeport.
For years, homecoming has been held in the Mopac House, built out of
lumber from the Missouri Pacific Depot and attached to the
Collegeport Library in 1935.
