Location: unknown

The entire community shares the grief of the Penland family in the loss of their infant daughter, Sara Marie Penland, who died of diphtheria Thursday and was buried in the local cemetery Friday. She was a sweet little baby who came into the world to brighten the family life.

"She is not dead but sleepeth."--Luke VII. 52

     "The baby wept:

The mother took it from the nurse's arms.

And hushed its fears and soothed its vain alarms.

     And baby slept.

     Again it weeps.

And God doth take it from the mother's arms.

From present griefs and future unknown harms

     And baby sleeps."       --Samuel Hinds
