Rhema Fellowship Church was formed in August, 1980. A group of persons desiring a non-denominational, full-gospel church began meeting in a home on Lee Street. The group grew and leased a building on State Highway 60 and continued to meet there for two years. On December 1, 1983, Rhema Fellowship purchased a building formerly a furniture warehouse, situated at 2112 Eighth Street in Bay City. The congregation has almost completed the conversion of the sanctuary and classroom. The sanctuary will seat approximately 400 persons. At the present time, the congregation is comprised of approximately 125 members. In April, 1984, a satellite system was purchased enabling the church to be linked with all the major Christian broadcasting networks. At the present Rhema is the only church in this area to have such a system. In September, 1984, a children's church, which features a puppet ministry, was begun to meet the needs of children ages 4 to 12. Historic Matagorda County, Volume I, pages 616-617 Rhema Church later purchased the former Colonial Theater at 2227 Avenue F which had a 4,985 square foot theater and 1,560 square foot balcony. The church members upgraded the electricity and many other areas while retaining the original theater features.
The church later became RealLive Church and in
January 2015 merged with Living Waters Vineyard Church to form Ignite Church and they
located at 900 Nichols Street. |
