Alvin Mendiola Final rites for 18-year-old Alvin Mendiola, 1407 Avenue I, were held Monday morning. The youth died Saturday at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston. He had been a student at Bay City High School. Father J. P. Shannon officiated at the mass at 10 am Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, and rosary was recited at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home Chapel Sunday night. Burial was in Cedarvale. Survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Juan Mendiola; four sisters, Mrs. Katie Ramirez of Houston, miss Pauline Mendiola of San Juan, Misses Minnie and Lidia Mendiola of Bay City; seven brothers, Pete, Johnny, Rudy, Julian and Balde Mendiola of Bay City, Robert of Houston and Ferd Mendiola of Ft. Sill Okla. Pallbearers were Stanley Ybarra, Daniel Pena, Raymond Yanez, Pete Rodriguez, Chop Reyna, Ernest Partida.

Mary Lou Martinez Montague Mary Lou Martinez Montague, 53, of Antonette, Colorado, died Sunday, November 19, in Antonette, Colorado. She was born May 20, 1925, in Bay City. Survivors include: her husband, Carlos Montague of Antonette, Colorado; her mother, Mrs. Petra Martinez of Bay City; a daughter, Cordelia Montague of Antonette, Colorado; a sister, Mrs. Elida Flores of Bay City; two brothers, Joaquin and Javier Martinez of Bay City. Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Sunday, November 26, at 10:00 AM. Officiating will be Rev. J. P. Shannon. Interment will be in Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Pat and Javier Martinez, Juan Flores, and Jesse and Robert Montague. Rosary will be said tonight, Friday, at 7:00 PM at Taylor Brothers Chapel. Arrangements are with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.

Elisa Garcia Montalvo Mrs. Elisa Garcia Montalvo, 62, died here Tuesday morning at 8:45 o’clock, after an illness of seven days. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday morning at 9 o’clock at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church with the Rev. Adnina officiating. Burial will be in Cedarvale Cemetery. Survivors include: her husband, Guadalupe Montalvo; three daughters, Mrs. Candida Ramirez, Mrs. Consuelo Aguilar, and Mrs. Guadalupe Mendez, all of Bay City; and two sons, Jose Casares of Houston and Frank Banado of Beaumont. Taylor Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
