T. E. Bell Dies at Bay City A message was received Tuesday evening from Bay City notifying relatives and friends that T. E. Bell had passed away. “Tommie,” as he was generally known, had been ill but a short time, and it was not generally known that his condition was considered serious. A sister, Mrs. V. L. LeTulle of Bay City, came to see him last Saturday, and took him and Mrs. Bell to Bay City, where she could assist in caring for him, and at which place he quietly passed away Tuesday evening, from heart trouble, caused by dropsy, as we are informed. Mr. Bell was about 58 years of age. He had lived in this city for several years and had made for himself many friends who will sincerely regret his passing. Mr. Bell was an honest, upright Christian gentleman, generous to a fault. He was a member of the Baptist Church and was a liberal contributor to all the work of the organization, and a faithful attendant at its services. The funeral services were conducted and interment made at Bay City Wednesday evening.—El Campo Citizen. Matagorda County Tribune, August 31, 1923 A Good Citizen Passes Over; Thos. Bell Dead For several days Thomas bell has been dangerously ill but gained sufficiently that he was moved to Bay City—and Thursday the wire from that city and Mr. Bell had passed away at about 4 o’clock—and thus ends the career of a good man. For a number of years deceased has conducted the Busy Bee Café here and through his business relations has made many friends who will mourn his passing. Funeral service and burial took place at Bay City Wednesday afternoon which were largely attended.—El Campo Record.
