Former Milam County Judge Dies in Bay City

I. N. Barber, former county judge of Milam county, died at his home in Bay City last week, aged 68 years. At the time of his death he was filling the office of Justice of the Peace of his county.

Judge Barber was once a power in politics in the county. After serving as county judge by virtue of the suffrage of the democrats, he went over to the Populist Party during the heyday of that party's strength in Matchless Milam. Old timers still recall the hot county election wherein he was almost elected on the Populist ticket over a Democrat. In fact, there be those who still aver that he was actually elected but counted out. Later on he made the race for Congress from this District on the Populist ticket, which was another warm race.

Judge Barber hailed from the old Waddle settlement in the extreme southwestern portion of the county and still has three brothers down there--T. J., A. M. and Joe Barber, all well known, substantial citizens. Judge Ed. Gunn of this city is a nephew. Decendent left this county in 1896, locating at Bay City, where we understand , he accumulated considerable property and was a prominent citizen.--Rockdale Reporter

T. E. Bell Dies at Bay City
End Came at Home of His Sister, Where He Had Been Taken

A message was received Tuesday evening from Bay City notifying relatives and friends that T. E. Bell had passed away.

“Tommie,” as he was generally known, had been ill but a short time, and it was not generally known that his condition was considered serious.

A sister, Mrs. V. L. LeTulle of Bay City, came to see him last Saturday, and took him and Mrs. Bell to Bay City, where she could assist in caring for him, and at which place he quietly passed away Tuesday evening, from heart trouble, caused by dropsy, as we are informed.

Mr. Bell was about 58 years of age. He had lived in this city for several years and had made for himself many friends who will sincerely regret his passing. Mr. Bell was an honest, upright Christian gentleman, generous to a fault.

He was a member of the Baptist Church and was a liberal contributor to all the work of the organization, and a faithful attendant at its services.

The funeral services were conducted and interment made at Bay City Wednesday evening.—El Campo Citizen.
