Paul Jecklin Paul Jecklin Mr. Paul Jecklin of Bay City died suddenly at Robstown Sunday. The remains were brought to Bay City Sunday night and were buried at Cedarvale Cemetery this afternoon. Mr. Jecklin had been in bad health for sometime. He left here a few days ago to take a position with the Arpin Dredging Co., at Robstown, and had been at work for only a few days when the end came. Decedent was a man loved by all who knew him, one of whom has stated that if he had ever done a wrong thing it was when he was unaware of it. When the sad news reached the home Sunday afternoon kind neighbors lost no time in doing all they could to alleviate the sorrow of the household and have administered unstintingly to the comforts of the grief-stricken wife and children since. Mr. Jecklin was 56 years and 3 months of age and leaves a wife and several children. His home was formerly at Blessing. The funeral was held from the home of the family this afternoon, Rev. G. T. Storey, the Presbyterian minister, officiating. The Tribune joins the many friends of the family in sympathy for their saddened conditions.

Children Perish in Flames An awful tragedy occurred at the home of Mr. S. M. Myrick, near Rugeley’s Switch, in the eastern part of the county, last night at between 9 and 10 o’clock when his house was destroyed by fire and two of his children, a boy and a girl, ten or twelve years of age, were cremated. From information gained, the family had retired after which Mr. Myrick thought of his mules and got up to turn them out of the pen. He discovered the house ablaze and before he could start to rescue the children the roof fell in, cremating them. The remains of the two unfortunate children were brought to Bay City today and buried. Mr. Myrick and family are well known in Bay City and have many friends here who are shocked over the terrible misfortune, which has befallen them. Mr. Myrick has been farming near Rugeley’s Switch on the Hawkinsville branch of the Southern Pacific for the past few years and has made many acquaintances and friends wherever he has become known. The children were attending school. Mr. Myrick and the remaining members of the family spent the day in the city at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Vaughan. The Tribune extends its deepest and most heartfelt sympathies to them in their awful bereavement.
