Mr. John H. Arnold, age 74, passed away suddenly Wednesday in Galveston. He is survived by three brothers, H. H. Arnold and Lewis Arnold of Bay City and Fred Arnold of Arcadia. Funeral services were held today (Friday) at 3:00 p. m. from Matchett-Newman Funeral Home with Rev. M. S. Frueh officiating. Interment was in Cedarvale cemetery.

Sanford Arnold Sanford Arnold Sanford Arnold, the four-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Arnold, died at the home of his parents in this city yesterday morning at 9:30 o’clock and was buried in Cedarvale Cemetery this morning at 10:30 after a brief illness. Sanford was a bright little fellow and his death casts a gloom over the home of his parents. The Tribune joins the many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold in the deepest sympathy in this dark hour of trouble.

Charles Benedict Charles Benedict, the aged gentleman who was severely burned and injured internally by the inhalation of gas a few days ago when the gasoline container of a peanut roaster exploded, died from his injuries at the Bay City Hospital today at 12:30 p. m. The funeral will be held from the Methodist Church tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon at 2 o’clock. Decedent was 84 years of age and lived with Mr. Clarence Talcott at Caney for several years. When Mr. Talcott moved away some months ago Mr. Benedict took lodging at the Derby hotel, where the accident causing his death occurred.

Edward William Blaise, the eight months old son of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Blaise, died at the home of his parents this morning.
The funeral took place in Cedarvale Cemetery this afternoon at 5 o’clock.
The Tribune joins the many friends of the father and mother in sympathy in their bereavement.

Pearl Patterson McDonald Cartwright Pearl Beatrice Cartwright Mrs. Pearl Beatrice Cartwright, age 36 years, 9 months and 18 days, died at the family residence in Beeville, Texas, Thursday at 4:50 PM. Mrs. Cartwright is survived by: her husband, Mack Cartwright; one daughter, Ouida Ray Cartwright of Beeville; three sisters, Mrs. W. H. Kelly, Mrs. D. D. Page, and Mrs. J. F. Finch; two brothers, F. M. Patterson and Henry Allen Patterson of Newgulf. Funeral services were held Friday at 3:00 PM, at the Baptist Church with Rev. Odis Rainer officiating. Active pallbearers were: W. F. Tetts, R. B. Lane, R. L. Books, T. C. Talcott, L. L. Johnson, and Zeb Milner. Burial was in Cedarvale Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were in charge of Taylor Bros.

Edward L. Castleton Louise M. Castleton Mrs. Edward L. Castleton Sr. Mrs. Edward L. Castleton Sr., 72, a resident of Van Vleck, passed away July 22 at the Methodist Hospital in Houston. She was a member of the D. A. R. and also the Daughters of the Confederacy. Survivors include: 2 sons, Edward L. Castleton Jr. of San Francisco and Henry Gordon Castleton of Houston; sister, Mrs. Helen Mayfield Rosaire; 1 grandchild. Funeral services will be held July 24 at 5 p. m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Milton McWilliams officiating. Interment will be at the Cedarvale Cemetery with pallbearers being; P. R. Hamill, Frank Lewis, Bert Steves, Oscar Rooth, W. B. Ferguson, and John S. Neary; honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Lane Barbour and Dan O’Connell. Arrangements with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.

T. A. Castleton Killed in Wreck Thomas Austin Castleton of Bay City was killed late Thursday morning when he reportedly turned his car into the path of a 16-wheel truck on west 7th St. Castleton, 83, was pronounced dead on arrival at Matagorda General after being pried from his vehicle, which had been crushed against a light pole. Castleton had been a distributor for Humble Oil Company in the Bay City area prior to his retirement. According to the police report, Castleton’s vehicle was headed west in the inside lane of 7th St., traveling in the same direction as a truck in the outer lane. Castleton attempted a right turn into the outer lane, moving in to the truck’s path. Castleton’s car was then struck in the right side and pushed into a CPL light pole. The driver of the truck, 39-year old James Fleming of Corpus Christi, was cited for driving while his license is suspended. Thomas Austin “Bubba” Castleton Thomas Austin “Bubba” Castleton, 83, of Bay City died August 21 in Bay City. He was a veteran of World War I, having served in the US Navy. He is survived by nephews Edward Castleton of San Francisco and Henry Castleton of Houston. Services were held at the First Presbyterian Church August 23, at 10 a. m. officiated by the Rev. Frank Seaman. Interment followed at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers were R. P. Dawdy, J. H. Cherry, W. E. Sullivan, K. R. Hosey, Russell Law, Gerald Ludwig, R. I. Hoke and John Merck. Honorary pallbearers were P. R. Hamil, Lane Barbour, J. S. Williams, John Neary, Paul Langham, Bernard Szeinbach, John Rakestraw, Thomas Manning and E. M. Huitt. Arrangements were with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.
