Samuel Joshua McPeak Margaret Kyle McPeak
September 2, 1860 – June 15, 1924
Following an illness of several months’ standing, Mr. S. J. McPeak, a highly respected citizen of this city, passed away at his home yesterday (Sunday) morning at 3 o’clock and was buried under Catholic services at the local cemetery this morning at 9 o’clock.
Decedent was 63 years, 9 months and 13 days of age at the time of his death. A few years ago he moved with his family to Bay City from his native state Mississippi, and engaged in the mercantile business which he carried on until a few months ago, when his health made it impossible for him to continue it.
Mr. McPeak reared a large family and is survived by his widow and several children. These are: Mrs. Mary Hagaman, Bay City; Mrs. A. E. Walker, Gillette, Arkansas; Shelby McPeak, Bay City; Francis McPeak, Gulf; Sam McPeak, Bay City; and Blanche McPeak, Bay City. He was a kind father and husband, a splendid neighbor and a Christian of strong convictions. He made friends and held them, and was always kind, considerate and just.
The funeral this morning was largely attended and the love and esteem in which he was held was attested to by the numerous floral offerings at the grave.
The Tribune joins the many friends of the heart-broken wife and bereft children in the deepest of sympathy.

James Austin Powell From Friday’s Daily. The home of Mr. and Mrs. B. f. Powell, in this city, was saddened yesterday by the death of their little son, James Austin, aged 3 years, 2 months and 10 days. Interment took place in Cedarvale Cemetery this afternoon, following religious services at the home. Little James Austin was a bright, light-hearted little fellow and the pride of the household. Several days ago he took ill and although every possible endeavor to save his life was made he left to join the countless millions of little angels yesterday, leaving his tired and weakened little body below to be laid to eternal rest by the hands of loving friends. The Tribune extends its deepest sympathy to heartbroken mother and father.
