Oscar E. George Dies In Victoria; Rites Here Monday Oscar E. George, a native of Matagorda county and resident of the county and Bay City for many years, died at his home in Victoria Saturday, Sept. 15, at the age of 53 years. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 3:30 from Taylor Bros. funeral home, Rev. Harry V. Rankin officiating. Burial was in Cedarvale cemetery. Mr. George had been employed by the Central Power & Light company for many years, first in Bay City and for the past several years in Victoria. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Gladys George of Victoria; his mother, Mrs. Mabel Bailey of San Antonio; three sisters, Miss Alice George and Miss Dorothy Bailey of San Antonio and Mrs. W. H. Broughton, Jr., of Newgulf; one brother, Lamar George of Alice, Tex. Pallbearers for the rites were C. A. Streiber, W. G. Nixon, Sgt. Clarence Frazier, V. D. Goering, William Blackburn and J. K. Mattox. SAD TIDINGS Oscar George of Victoria, son of Mrs. Mable Bailey of San Antonio, passed away at his home Saturday from a sudden heart attack. The remains were brought to Bay City for interment in the Cedarvale cemetery at 3:30 Monday afternoon. Mr. George was born in Matagorda in 1892 and reared here. He is survived by his wife, his mother, Mrs. Bailey, one brother, Lamar George, and three sisters, and an uncle at Matagorda. Mr. C. A. Noble and wife went to Victoria at once returning home Sunday evening. Several from Matagorda attended the funeral services in Bay City they included Mr. and Mrs. Noble, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Duffy and others. Deepest sympathy of Matagorda friends are extended the survivors of this estimable man. “The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away—Blessed be His Holy name.”

Henry M. Hall Rites Held For Bay City Youth – Henry M. Hall Bay City, May 20.—(Sp)—Funeral services for Henry M. Hall, 20, who died Saturday from severe burns received in a car accident April 30, were held at the Matchett-Newman funeral home Sunday afternoon. Rev. Boyd Hunt of Fort Worth officiated. Burial was in Cedarvale cemetery. Young Hall, an army veteran, is survived by his mother, Mrs. Mary Ada Hall; six sisters, and a brother. His death is the second caused by the crash, which occurred about two and one-half miles east of Bay City, April 30. The youth and four companions were returning to Bay City from a skating party in Sweeny, when the car struck an abutment of the Buck’s bayou bridge. James A. Roper Jr. was pinned underneath the overturned car and burned to death. Robert Pruitt and the Hall boy were severely burned. R. C. Taylor had his right leg amputated as a result of the accident. The driver of the car, Floyd Hack, was uninjured.

Ruth V. Hobizal Ruth V. Hobizal Graveside funeral services for Ruth V. Hobizal, 79, formerly of Bay City, were held at 2 p. m. Saturday at Cedarvale Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Vickers officiating. Ms. Hobizal was born Aug. 10, 1914 in Markham to John James and Georgie Jeanette Ham Kirby. She died June 30, 1994 at a Henderson Hospital. She spent many years in Bay City as a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she cared for the nursery class. She lived in Henderson for the past year-and-a-half. Survivors include two daughters, Sandy Sparks of Freeport and Betty Melde of Henderson; three sons, Bryan Brown of Markham, Johnnie Alexander of Bay City and Bobby Alexander of Austin; two sisters, two brothers, 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Arrangements are with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home in Bay City.

Rush Marion Hubbard - Courtesy of Gale French Funeral Services Are Held Thursday For Van Vleck Boy – Rush Marion Hubbard Funeral services were held Thursday for Rush Marion Hubbard, 3, who died from injury received when he fell in a pot of boiling water. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Hubbard, and two brothers, Jimmie Martin and Gordan Vernon, all of Van Vleck. The Rev. Marvin Vance of the First Methodist Church officiated and burial was in the Cedar Vale Cemetery here under the direction of Taylor Brothers.

Burial was in Cedarvale Cemetery. Survivors, wife Edna; three daughters, Mrs. Maggie Mae Brunner, Mrs. Mable Clinton and Mrs. Clara Lewis; four sons, W. B., R. R., F. B. and Pat Hubbard; 3 sisters, Mrs. Clara Owens, Mrs. Alice Woffard and Mrs. Maggie Elliot; 2 brothers, B. H. and J. M. Hubbard. Burial in Cedarvale Cemetery.

Dusty Lane Owens Dusty Lane Owens Services for Dusty Lane Owens of Magnet were scheduled for 3 p. m. today in Taylor Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. G. Wayne Wilson, officiating. He was born on Jan. 18, 1982, and died Nov. 16, 1983 in Matagorda County General Hospital. He is survived by his mother and father, Ricky Owens and the former Pam Powell of the family home; his maternal grandmother Mrs. Chester Powell of Bay City; his paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. T. K. Owens of Wharton; his great-grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Elector Graham of Boston, Texas; Mama Owens of Wortham, Texas; one sister, Misty Kay; and one brother, Justin Neil. Burial will be in Cedarvale Cemetery. Arrangements are with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.

William Pentecost Funeral Services Held Sunday For Guy Pentecost Will Guy Pentecost, 53, died at the family residence near Wadsworth, Saturday night at 11:40 o’clock after an illness of some duration. Mr. Pentecost is survived by his mother, Mrs. Sarah Pentecost; two sisters, Mrs. Jessie Ryman and Mrs. Fred Ryman; one brother, Frank Pentecost of Manvel. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 4 o’clock from the Taylor Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. P. E. Engle of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church officiating. Burial was in the Cedar Vale Cemetery with Taylor Brothers in charge of the funeral arrangements.
