1878 – 1914
Died – at San Antonio, Tuesday last, Mrs. W. L. McCamly, after a lingering illness of tuberculosis. The remains were interred in the city cemetery here yesterday afternoon. The deceased was a daughter of Mr. Edgar Rugeley and well known in this county where she was reared, and is survived by husband and two children who have the deep sympathy of a large circle of friends.

Dolph Beadle Moore Dolph Beadle Moore, 81, of Bay City, passed away Monday, February 24, 1997, in New Braunfels. He was born May 24, 1915, in Bay City to Grover Moore and Helen Beadle. He graduated from Bay City High School as salutatorian of his class and attended Rice University in Houston. He went to work for Humble Oil & Refining Co. (Exxon) in 1935. He married Marta Wolff of Opelousas in 1940. He was the youngest person appointed Party Chief at Humble at the time. Supervised gravity exploration crews in Gulf of Mexico and throughout south Louisiana until 1953 when he was made Division Gravity Supervisor for the East Texas Division in Tyler. During this period, he also supervised geophysical crews in northern California and Oregon. Ended a 43-year career with Humble in 1978 as head of gravity worldwide research in Houston. After retiring, he moved to Bay City, where he served on the board of the First National Bank of Bay City from 1979 to 1996, and was an organizer of the new First National Bank. He served as a member of the ad hoc committee and on the Board of Bay City Main Street. He was a volunteer of the Bay City Convention Center, participated in Democratic Party politics and was a member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas. His grandfather, D. P. Moore, was a founder of Bay City. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church of Bay City. He is survived by daughter Marta Elizabeth Moore Norwood and her husband, L. Paul, of New Braunfels; son, Dolph Beadle Moore, Jr. and his wife, Blanche Montgomery Moore, of Little Rock, Arkansas; grandchildren, L. Paul Norwood, Jr. and his wife, Cissi W. Norwood, of Austin and Sally Norwood Blecher and her husband, Daniel Blecher, of Fort Worth. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover Moore and Helen Beadle Moore, wife, Marta Wolff Moore, and brother, William Grover Moore. Mass will be recited at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 26, 1997, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Rev. Edward Boren officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of New Braunfels or to the Texas Heart Institute. Pallbearers are Jim Allen, Jimmy Stewart, Jack Conner, Frank Lewis, David Bybee, Billy Penny, Joe Gwinn and Sidney Schwartz. Arrangements are with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City.

Grover Moore Funeral services for Grover Moore, 68, were held at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home April 15, with Father C. J. Martin of the Holy Cross Catholic Church officiating. Mr. Moore died April 13. Burial was in the Cedarvale Cemetery with Taylor Brothers in charge of arrangements. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Helen Moore of Bay City; two sons, Beadle Moore of Tyler and William Grover Moore of San Francisco; five sisters, Mrs. John Reynolds, Mrs. C. M. O’Brien, Mrs. A. M. Jackson, Miss Martha Moore, Mrs. J. B. Harvey; two brothers, Layton Moore of Bay City and Jerome Moore of Houston.

Lillian Mulhausen Moore Funeral services for Lillian Mulhausen Moore, 78, of Houston, will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Bay City, with the Rev. Hugh Jones officiating. Burial will be in Cedarvale Cemetery, Bay City. Friends may call today at Henneke Funeral Home, 1515 Montezuma, Columbus, Texas. Mrs. Moore was born June 5, 1910, in Harrah, Oklahoma, to William R. and Elizabeth L. Morrow Mulhausen, and died May 28, 1989, in Houston. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Houston where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Theta Sigma Phi. She was an accomplished educator, journalist and feature writer. She married William Jerome Moore of Bay City and they resided in the Bay City area until 1959 when they moved to Colorado. They returned to Houston in 1979. She was a member of St. James and St. Martin Episcopal churches. Survivors include her son, Jerome Moore of Houston; a daughter, Aneita Moore Camacho of Boulder, Colorado; two sisters, Ann Schwartzwalter of Arnold, California and Dorothy Moore of Green Valley, Arizona; and, two grandchildren, Yvonne and Robert Camacho. Arrangements are with Henneken Funeral Home, Columbus, Texas.

Marta Wolff Moore Marta Wolff Moore, 74, of Bay City, passed away January 18, 1996, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston. She was born November 11, 1921, in Opelousas, Louisiana, to Dr. Sylvan Wolff and Jane Borkowska Wolff. She was a member of the Catholic Church and had been a resident of Bay City for 17 years. She married Dolph Beadle Moore on February 16, 1940. She was a devoted wife and mother. Prior to retirement, Marta was active with the Mother Frances Auxiliary in Tyler, Texas and other civic activities. She was elected the first president of The Democratic Women’s Club of Smith County. She is survived by her husband, Dolph Beadle Moore of Bay City; by one daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Paul Norwood of New Braunfels, Texas; by one son and daughter-in-law, Beadle and Blanche Moore of Little Rock, Arkansas; by two sisters, Constance Erlanger of New Orleans, Louisiana and Rebecca Jane Manonwrier of Opelousas, Louisiana; and by two grandchildren and their spouses, Paul Norwood and his wife, Cecelia, and Sally Norwood Blecher and her husband Daniel. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, January 20, 1996, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Edward Boren officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City. Pallbearers include Jack Conner, Todd Conner, Jim Allen, Joe Gwinn, Tom Uher, and Dr. David Bybee. Memorials may be made to the Texas Heart Institute, PO Box 4149, Houston, Texas 77036. Arrangements are with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City.

Eula May Munkus Mrs. Eula May Munkus, age 33 years, passed away in Wharton, Texas, Wednesday morning March 14 at 4:30 AM, after an illness of some duration. Mrs. Munkus had been a resident of Bay City for about 14 months. She is survived by: her husband Joe Munkus, one daughter Bennie Joe, one son Thomas Lee, her father H. E. Hammons, one sister Mrs. Lela Lesley, three brothers, Kellam, Arnold and Windburn Hammons. Funeral services were held from Matchett-Newman funeral home March 16 at 2:00 PM, with Rev. James T. Draper officiating, with burial in Cedarvale Cemetery.
