Bruce Harley Barnett Callaway Graveside services for Bruce Harley Barnett Callaway, 61, of Freeport, will be held 2 p. m. Tuesday at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City with Monsignor James Brunner officiating. Friends may call for visitation after 8:30 a. m. Tuesday. Mr. Callaway was born Oct. 6, 1931 in Palacios to Albert Wayman and Jennie Clyde Barnett Callaway and died May 8, 1993 in a Lake Jackson hospital after an extended illness. He was a longtime resident of Brazoria County and had lived in Freeport for the last 15 years. He worked as a brick mason and was a member of the Catholic church. Mr. Callaway married Patricia Marie Nettles Sept. 28, 1967 in Bay City. Survivors include his wife, Pat Callaway of Brazoria; a daughter, Cheryl Ann Callaway; three sons, Bruce Harley Callaway Gipson, Scott Allen Callaway and Sheldon Wade Callaway; his mother, Jennie Clyde Allegretti of Irvine, Calif.; four sisters, Barbara Stovall of Magnet, Marilyn Fobes of Johnson Creek, Wis, Carolyn Mapes of Sealy and Doris Rangel of Fort Davis; two brothers, John G. McGrail of Irvine, Calif. and Jackie Williams of Bay City; and several grandchildren. Mr. Callaway was preceded in death by a daughter, Gwendolyn Elaine Gipson. Honorary pallbearers will be all of his many friends. Funeral services are under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home.

Mrs. Entzminger died March 1 at Matagorda General Hospital. She was born July 24, 1918, in New London, Connecticut to the late Thomas John and Helen Geraldine O’Rourk Murray. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic church and a resident of Bay City since 1945.
Mrs. Entzminger is survived by: her daughters, Mary Ann Matthews of Bay City, Peggy Blauser of Colleyville, Texas, Patsy Huebner of Bay City, and Jo Lynn Williams of Philadelphia, Mississippi; brother, Dr. Joe Murray of New London, Connecticut; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; and friend Viola Thompson of Bay City. She was preceded in death by: her husband Joe Entzminger, on September 1, 1998.
Pallbearers will be Steve Bayless, Russell Day, Joe, Scott, and Matt Lawhon, and Don Matthews. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Library, Holy Cross School Foundation, or the charity of choice.

A rosary service for Joe Entzminger, 85, of Bay City will be held at 7:30 p. m. Thursday, Sept. 3, 1998 at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be at 10 a. m. Friday, Sept. 4 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Rev. Casey Jarzombek officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Entzminger died Sept. 1, at Matagorda General Hospital. He was born May 6, 1913 in Dayton, TX to the late Benjamin and Jessie Baker Entzminger. He received his law degree from the University of Texas on June 8, 1936, and was licensed by the Texas Supreme Court to practice law in Texas. At this time, he opened a private practice in Houston. He served as Assistant City Attorney of Houston as a prosecutor in 1938, then resumed private practice in Houston in 1939. He served as the first Vice-President of the Texas Junior Bar in 1939-1940. He was commissioned in the United States Naval Reserves in June of 1942, and was promoted through the rank of Lieutenant Commander until 1945. He married the former Ellen Mary Murray on Nov. 14, 1942 and opened his law practice in Bay City on Sept. 1, 1945. In 1953 he was later appointed as Special Assistant Attorney General. He was commissioned as Admiral in the Texas Navy on July 2, 1963. In 1965 he was licensed to practice before the United States Supreme Court. He received his Fifty Year Certificate from the State Bar of Texas on June 21, 1986. He was a member of V. F. W. Post #2438, American Legion Post #11, Texas State Bar Association, Matagorda Co. Museum, Board of Directors of Lower Colorado River Authority, University of Texas Ex’s Association, and a lifetime member of the 100 Club. Entzminger is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ellen Murray Entzminger of Bay City; daughters and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Mike Matthews, Patsy and Bill Huebner all of Bay City, Peggy and Jim Blauser of Colleyville, TX, and Jo Lynn and Tom Williams of Philadelphia, Miss.; eight grandchildren, Debbie Martinez and husband Juan, Christie Day and husband Russell, Jamie Cooper and husband Chris, Brian Blauser, Scott Lawhon and wife Jennifer, Matt Lawhon and wife Lisa, Amzie Williams, and Ellen Williams; and one niece, Thea Baldwin of Sugarland He was preceded in death by his brother Lindell Entzminger. George Dewey Hall Brondelle Moseley Hall
George Dewey Hall, Jr. George Dewey Hall, Jr., 90, was born in Edinburg, Texas to the late George Dewey Hill, Sr. and Ida Mae Adair Hall on December 17, 1921. He slipped the bonds of this earth on August 5, 2012. He was raised in the Rio Grande Valley by his schoolteacher mother and graduated salutatorian at El Jardin High School in Brownsville, Texas in May 1939. George served his country during World War II as a civil servant attached to the 8th Air Force at the Warrington Air Base in England and at air bases in San Antonio. After the war, he met his wife, Brondelle Moseley in Brownsville where they began their 65-year-long romance. Work took George to chemical plants in Texas and Mississippi and eventually to Bay City where he retired from Celanese. George was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Cradle of Texas Chapter. He is survived by: his wife, Brondelle; son, Tim Hall and wife Susan; daughter, Ann Patterson; grandchildren, David Hall, Christopher Hall, Kristen Patterson, Stephanie and Sergio Perez, Jim Patterson and great-grandchildren, Mila and Penelope Perez. Graveside services will be from 9 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2012 at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City with the Rev. Jeff Gantz officiating. Brondelle Hall Brondelle Hall, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away on April 10, 2014. She was born on October 19, 1929 in Rusk, Texas, to Elijah Minton Moseley and Connie Estelle Gregg Moseley. She spent her childhood in Rusk and Wild Hurst, Texas, before moving with her family to El Jardin, outside of Brownsville, where she completed her education, met, fell in love, and married George D. Hall, Jr. George and Brondelle lived in several towns along the Gulf Coast, before moving their family to Bay City in 1965, when George began working at Celanese. George passed away August 5, 2012, one month after their 65th wedding anniversary. Brondelle was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Pilot Club, the Book Club, and the DAR. Her passion and joy came from volunteering as a Pink Lady with the Matagorda Hospital Auxiliary, where she spent most of her days with her best friends and chosen sisters. Brondelle is survived by her children, Tim and Sue Hall, and Ann Patterson; grandchildren, David Hall, Kristen Patterson, Stephanie and Sergio Perez, Jim Patterson, and Chris Hall; Mila, Penelope, and Georgina Perez are her great-granddaughters. She is also survived by her brothers and their wives, Gerald and Ginny Moseley of Brownsville, and James and Patti Moseley of Las Vegas; and sister-in-law, Elaine Hall of Harlingen, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; brother, Harold Moseley; and brother-in-law, Allen Hall. The family will receive visitors from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Taylor Bros. Thelma Lee Coward Ham Thelma Lee Coward Ham, 96, called by God to her eternal rest on November 4, 2010, at Matagorda Regional Hospital in Bay City. She was born July 29, 1914, on the historic Tom O’Connor Melon Creek Ranch in Refugio County where her father was ranch foreman. She was one of four children of Ed and Connie Coward. She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Howard Ham; brothers, Edward W.”Eddie” Coward Jr. and Elton D “Rusty” Coward; sister, Josephine “Jo” Coward Lankard; son, by previous marriage, Gordon D. Chadwell and wife Lynda, and daughter-in-law, Pat Ham. She is survived by: sons, Col. (ret) Howard Ham Jr. and wife Margaret of San Antonio, William Chas. “Bill” Ham of Bay City; three grandsons and one granddaughter; five great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Known by a lifelong nickname of “Curley,” she and Howard moved to Bay City in 1943. Recognized as Bay City “Citizen of the Year” in 1963 and with her death leaves a legacy of charitable, public service, religious, historical, and volunteer work in the community of icon significance. Mrs. Ham started her career of community service at age 12 as president of the first Junior Federated Club in Refugio County, the “Merry Maids Club” in 1927; also Pres. in 1940 for the Refugio Junior Women’s Club. Moving to Bay City in 1943 with her husband, she has among her many accomplishments as a community organizer: Matagorda County Federation of Women’s Club President in 1957-58,1963-64,1975-78,1983-84; Bay City Junior Hi Kitten Club President in 1956; Bay City High School P.T.A. president in 1960-61; Charter member of the Matagorda General Hospital (now Matagorda Regional), Hospital Auxiliary 1960; Organizer and first President of the Matagorda County Texas A&M Mothers Club 1961, and in 1981-82, 1982-83; Appointed by Governor John Connolly to the Texas Historical Commission in 1963-67; Regent of the Wharton Comfort Wood DAR Chapter; A charter member of the Mary Ralph Marsh DAR Chapter in Bay City in 1967-68; President of the Matagorda County Historical Society 1966-68; Publicity Chairman for the Bay City Bicentennial Committee 1975-76; Served on the Board of Directors of the Matagorda County Historical Museum; March of Dimes 25-year Service Award in 1964 and a 30-year Service Award in 1969; Received the American Heart Assoc. Service Award in 1971. In addition to years of volunteer work with church and Cub Scout activities, she was a fan of all sports, with golf as a recreational hobby. She was elected president of the Bay City Country Club Women’s Golf Assoc. in 1966. Also, she had membership in the Miss Ima Hogg Chapter, Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT)2009-10. A volunteer for many political campaigns, she always considered her hobby as doing for others, and her greatest happiness was being with people. Howard C. Ham, Sr., 89, of Bay City died
Feb. 20, 2002 in Bay City. He was born July 7, 1912 in Atmore, Ala.
to the late Milford Charles and Margaret Steadham Ham. He was a
member of the First United Methodist Church, and President of the
Wesley Class in 1953. Mr. Ham was a dedicated worker in barbecues,
oyster, and fish fries that were held annually. He was a resident of
Bay City since 1943, a former resident of Liberty County, and a
graduate of Dayton High School. He was a member of the 1941 Regional
Championship football team.

Charles Ham William Charles Ham, 79, passed away October 17, 2023. He was born October 23, 1943 in Refugio, Texas to the late Howard Ceil Ham, Sr. and Thelma “Curley” Coward Ham. He graduated from Bay City High School in 1961 and was voted Senor Class Favorite Boy. He was very active in FFA and 4H as well as athletics, particularly Black Cat Football. He attended Blinn Junior College in Brenham on a football scholarship. He transferred to Southwest Texas State University in 1962 where he played on the Bobcat Football Team through 1964 and continued to be a loyal supporter and member of the Bobcat Club. He began his coaching career at Brazosport ISD. His career included positions at Lake Jackson Intermediate School and Line Coach at Phyllis Wheatley High School in Houston. He later changed his career, becoming a Safety Inspection Engineer. He traveled to many locations including Saudi Arabia, Williston, ND and Prudhoe Bay, Alaska where he was involved in clean-up operations of the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill in 1989. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Ret. Col. Howard C. Ham, Jr. and Margaret Ham as well as cousins, nieces and nephews. His body was willed to medical science at the time of his death. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 PM Monday, October 21, 2024 at Cedarvale Cemetery, where his Cremated Remains will be interred.

A life-long resident of the Bay City area, she was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and the Baptist church. Survivors include her husband, Thelbert E. Simpson; her mother, Carrie R.
