Harrison died Friday, April 25 at Sweeny Community Hospital. He is survived by his wife Gloria J. Harrison of Sweeny; sons David Duane Harrison of Bay City, Bradly Wayne Harrison of Sweeny, Glenn Patrick Achten of Austin and James Edward Achten of Sweeny; daughter and son-in-law Radonna Ann and Jonathan Lillian of Lake Jackson; sisters Margaret Moore of Bryan and Elizabeth New of Austin and six grandchildren. He was a Piping Designer for M. T. I. Corporation. He is survived by his mother and step-father, Lillie Mae and Winston Lackey of Bay City; by his father and step-mother, David Earl and Gloria Harrison of Sweeny; son, Cole Wesley Harrison of West Columbia; by his sister and brother-in-law, Radonna and Jonathan Lillian of Lake Jackson; by his brother, David Duane Harrison of Bay City; by his half-brother, Bradley Wayne Harrison of Sweeny; by two step-brothers, James Edward Achten of Sweeny and Glenn Patrick Achten of Austin. He is also survived by two nephews, Robert and Jared Harrison. Funeral services were held at 10:30 A. M. Monday, August 7, 1995 in the Taylor Bros. Chapel with Rev. Clayton Orr officiating. Dugger Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Cedarvale Cemetery, Bay City. Mrs. Haskell was born July 17, 1895, in Galveston and died Sept. 20, 1987, at Southwest Memorial Hospital, Houston. Survivors include a son, the Rev. W. A. Haskell of Bay City; two daughters, Joan Murphy of Houston and Mary Elizabeth Hutchinson of Maryland; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Bay City Tribune, Published August 17, 2008 Jean Ratliff Haskell Jean Ratliff Haskell, 71, of Cedar Lane died Monday, Dec. 30, 1996 at the Methodist Hospital in Houston. She was born June 29, 1925 in Houston to parents Ernest and Ethel Warren Ratliff. She retired working ten years as a payroll accountant for Bechtel Company in Bay City. As her husband, W. A. “Bill” Haskell was formerly pastor of St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Bay City, she was very active in all church work including the choir, teaching the special students Sunday School Class, serving as missionary chairman of St. Paul’s Church, working in the United Methodist Women and southwestern district, serving as active president of the FCE club and a former president of Church Women United in Louisiana. Survivors are husband, W. A. “Bill” Haskell of Cedar Lane; son and daughter-in-law Mark and Debbie Haskell of Jakarta, Indonesia; daughter and son-in-law Lynda and Jerome Begnaud of Houston; sister, Ruby Ruth Bentinck of Duncanville; grandchildren Chris and Will Haskell of Jakarta, Indonesia and Dallas and Carmen Begnaud of Lafayette, Louisiana and sister-in-law Martha Ratliff of Cedar Lane. Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 2 at 2 p. m. at the St. Paul’s Methodist Church with Elizabeth Moreau and Ken Goodall officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City. In lieu of flowers memorials can be given to the St. Paul’s Methodist Church. Services under the direction of Dick R. Elkins Bay City Funeral Home.

Y. to Harold Hugh and Beverly Opal Ellis Hawkins. He died June 11, 1993 at Brooks Army Medical Center in San Antonio. He was a member of the Baptist Church, a resident of Fort Worth for two years, a former resident of Germany and a retired staff sergeant in the U. S. Army. Mr. Hawkins is survived by the following: a wife, Maria Anne Binder Hawkins of Germany; his parents, Harold Hugh and Beverly Ellis Hawkins of Bay City; a daughter, Tanja Hawkins of Germany; three sons, Steven Hawkins of Germany and Wayne Robert Hawkins and Brandon Keith Hawkins of Moulton, Alabama; three sisters, Gail Hawkins Barber and Cathy Smith of Fort Worth and Beverly Stone of Bay City; and two brothers, Harold H. Mrs. Hayes was born Nov. 29, 1909 in San Augustine to Oliver and Rosalee Horn McElroy and died June 5, 1993 at Matagorda General Hospital. She was a member of the Baptist church. Survivors include two sons, Fred L. Hayes of Longview and Robert E. Hayes of Pierre Part, La.; a daughter, Rita Cox of Bay City; three sisters, Oma Christensen of Elkins Lake, Myra Wimberley of Houston and Lois Moorehousen of League City; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Aubrey “Toby” Inscore, 67, of Bay City, Texas, died at M. D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas, on October 4. He was a member of W.O.W. and the Lions Club. Survivors are: wife, Mrs. Tressie Inscore of Bay City; daughter, Susan Furgiuele of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; sons, Robert of Katy, Texas, and Aubrey F. of Bay City; sister, Zella Blackwell of Luling, Texas; brothers, Johnnie Inscore of San Antonio, Texas, and Carl Reed of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; and 9 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Taylor Brothers Chapel, on October 6, at 4:00 PM, with Dr. Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jack Rice, J. C. Deborah Matthews Martinez, 36, of Temple, Texas, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2000, at Scott & White Hospital in Temple.
Formerly of Bay City, she was born September 1, 1964, to Mike Matthews and Mary Ann Entzminger Matthews.
She is survived by: her husband, Juan Martinez of Temple; parents, Mike and Mary Ann Matthews of Bay City; step-daughter, Melody Martinez of Temple; and a sister, Christi Lynn Day of Pearland.
The Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM Friday at Taylor Bros. Chapel. The Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday at Holy Cross Catholic Church.

Evelyn
Maurine Sutton Mielsch Evelyn Maurine Sutton Mielsch, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, after a brief illness. Evelyn was born to Lewis L. and Thelma C. Sutton on December 10, 1932 in Henderson, Texas. Mr. Sutton, Evelyn’s father, was an oilfield worker and the family moved where the work was in Texas and Oklahoma, finally settling in Bay City, Texas, in 1945. She graduated from Bay City High School in June of 1950. She married the love of her life, John Paul “Bubsy” Mielsch on August 1, 1950. Evelyn was a business woman, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with her own bookkeeping and tax service, Evelyn and Associates, in Bay City for a number of years. She was a long time member of Bay City First Christian Church where she held several offices, including Financial Secretary. Evelyn loved her church, especially partaking of the Lord’s Supper. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she held the offices of Worthy Matron, Deputy Grand Worthy Matron and Treasurer. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Paul; her son, Paul Lewis Mielsch, and daughter, Cathey Lynne Willson. She is survived by her grandson, Dain Jackson Sawyer; and several aunts and cousins in Texas, Oklahoma and Washington. She is also survived by her long-time buddies and “gang members” Mary Lou Birkner of El Campo, TX, Mary Kiesling of Kenedy, TX and Janice Critendon of Olivia, TX; as well as close friend and “partner in crime” Judy Pennington and Kerry Ledwig of Bay City, TX. Evelyn would be very upset if we failed to acknowledge the warm and loving treatment given her by the wonderful folks at Matagorda Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bay City and the tender, final care she received from the Houston Hospice. There will be a graveside service at Cedar Vale Cemetery for close friends and family at 10 a.m., Monday, July 28, 2014, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m., at Bay City First Christian Church, 3920 Doris St., Bay City, TX with the Rev. John Paul Mielsch Funeral services for John Paul Mielsch, 69, of Bay City were held at 5 p. m. Tuesday, June 23, 1998 at the First Christian Church with Rev. Kevin Flannery officiating. Masonic graveside services will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Mielsch passed away Saturday, June 20, 1998 at the Hermann Hospital in Houston. He was born Feb. 12, 1929 in Bay City to the late Fred Arthur Mielsch, Sr. and Ella Pauline Wasicek Mielsch. He was a life-long resident of Bay City and was originally a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bay City. Upon his marriage to the former Evelyn M. Sutton, he transferred his church membership to the First Christian Church of Bay City. He was an active member since 1950. He served on various committees and was a Deacon and served as elder and chairman of the board. He helped with the youth group of the church because he was interested in helping the young people. He was a graduate of the Bay City High School, a graduate of the Schriner Institute of Kerrville, Texas, and a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, a retired owner of the Mielsch Motor Company Chrysler-Plymouth-Dodge Dealership in Bay City, a member of the Chamber of Commerce, a Charter Member of the Bay City Jay-Cees, a Charter member of the Optimist Club, a former Assistant Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 45 sponsored by the First United Methodist Church, and served on the Board of Directors for Boy Scouts Troop 863. He was a very active member of Bay City Chapter 380 Order of the Eastern Star. He was Past Worthy Patron and held many state grand offices. He was chairman of the board of the Bay City Assembly No. 119 [Order of the Rainbow for Girls] many times over the years, and received the coveted Grand Cross of Grand Assembly. Mielsch was a very active member of the Masonic Lodge 865 A. F. & A. M. of Bay City and became Master Mason Sept. 9, 1954, Royal Arch Mason Jan. 27, 1956, Select Master Feb. 3, 1956, Worshipful Master from 1959-1960, and Knight Templar Sept. 23, 1966. He was Master during the building of the current Lodge Building. He was District Deputy Masonic District No. 32 in 1983, was Secretary of Bay City Lodge for over 23 years, Tiler eight of the last 10 years and head of building committee last 10 years. He was past High Priest of Bay City Chapter No. 315 Royal Arch Mason, past Thrice Illustrious Master of Bay City Council No. 251 of the Royal and Select Masters and past Commander of Bay City Commandery No. 74. He was past District Deputy Grand High Priest of the Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Texas, past District Deputy Grand Master of the Grand Council of Select Masters of Texas and a Knight York Cross of Honor. He was also a member of the Arabia Temple Shrine of Houston and Gulf Coast Shrine Club of Bay City and was only the third ever recipient of the Golden Trial [Trowel?] Award in 1996. He was a supporter and sponsor of the Matagorda County Livestock Show and Rodeo and was instrumental in starting and sponsoring the Dodge Ram Tough Series of the P. R. C. A. Rodeo from 1985 to 1990, a supporter of the Matagorda County FFA and 4-H Livestock Auction, a supporter and vice-president of the Band Aids from the Bay City High School Band, a member of the Black Cat Booster Club, and a sponsor of the Matagorda County Mud Racers Association. He was a supporter and was instrumental in development of the Sweeny baseball field, a sponsor of the Bay City Little League Association and the Bay City Women’s Softball Association. He was Umpire in Chief and President of the Bay City Umpire’s Association and was a certified Umpire for semi-pro baseball and was certified to Umpire U. I. L. Baseball competition. He worked hard for the youth of Matagorda County. He helped many of the young athletes with summer jobs and part-time jobs, so they could keep up with their school work and sports. Three of the students that worked for him later became professional athletes. He always tried to stress to the youth that honesty is a virtue that is always most important. Also, the word of a man was his bond. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Sutton Mielsch of Bay City; a daughter and son-in-law, Cathey Lynne Willson and husband Kenneth L. Willson, Jr. of Lake Jackson; a son, Paul Lewis Mielsch of Houston; a brother and sister-in-law, Fred Arthur Mielsch, Jr. and Margie Mielsch of Cedar Lane; a grandson, Dain J. Sawyer of Lake Jackson; and two aunts, Alma Schiller of East Bernard and Rosie Wasicek of Wallis. Plumley Haskell, and died October 28, 1994, in Southwest Memorial Hospital in Houston. She was a member of Gethsemane Methodist Church in Houston. Survivors include: her husband, Joseph Murphy of Houston; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Donna Murphy and John and Susan Murphy, all of Houston; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janell and Craig Tilley and Julie and James Farmer, all of Houston; a brother and sister-in-law, William A. and Jean Haskell of Cedar Lane; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Hutchinson of Virginia; and, five grandchildren. Funeral services for Ella M. Ottis, 82, of Bay City are scheduled for 10:00AM Friday, October 10, at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Msgr. James Brunner officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.
Mrs. Ottis passed away October 8 at her residence. She was born October 7, 1915, in Okarche, Oklahoma to Rudolph J. and Rose Baustert Brueggen. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and had been a resident of Bay City since 1965.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Maureen and Jim Nault of Austin; by sons and daughters-in-law, Edward J. and Jane Ottis of Corpus Christi, Mike Ottis of Wadsworth, Bill and Marilyn Ottis of Bay City and Richard and Caroline Ottis of El Campo; two sisters, Florence Ottis of Okarche, Oklahoma and Alice Panter and husband Bill of Norman, Oklahoma; by two sisters-in-law, Antoinette Rogers of Bay City and Lucille Ottis of Wadsworth; and by thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are her three special caregivers, Diane Tumlinson, China Mae Thompson, and Tommie Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Ottis, in 1991, her parents and by three brothers.
A Rosary is set for 7:00PM Thursday, October 9, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Chapel. Pallbearers include her grandsons, Mike Ottis, Steve Ottis, Dan Ottis, Ronny Ottis, Brian Ottis, Shaw Ottis, Jason Key and Steve Key.

Jimmy Lee Plunkett, 63, of Ashwood, passed away August 22, 2017. He
was born February 9, 1954 in Wharton, Texas to the late Eddie Alice
Plunkett, Sr. and Alma Lee James Plunkett. Jimmy was a long-time
employee of Mike Stone Grass Farms. Jimmy enjoyed fishing, hunting,
playing dominoes and being with friends and family. Always the first
to laugh at a good joke or genuine sarcasm, he will be sorely missed

Sheila Plunkett, 52, of the Ashwood Community died June 28, 2005 at her residence. She was born June 24, 1953 in Bay City, TX to the late Theodore James and Trubie Jean Sparks Bryant. Sheila was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Matagorda, a resident of Ashwood for the past 20 years, and she was a longtime beautician in Bay City. Survivors include: husband: Jimmy Plunkett of Ashwood; sister & brother-in-law: Arlane & Wayne Sanders of Wadsworth; brother and sister-in-law: Ricky & Peggy Bryant of Zipperian’s Corner; brother-in-law: James Plunkett of Van Vleck; sister-in-law: Cindy Par-Due of Allen, TX; grandchild: Trenton Blaylock of Ashwood; nieces: Lacey Sparks of Ashwood, Stacey and Megan Plunkett of Van Vleck, Evelyn Thigpen of Bay City, Stephanie Fojtik of Edna, Amy Plunkett of Allen, TX, and Katy Plunkett of Victoria, TX; nephews: Frank Boultinghouse, Jr. of Wadsworth, Eric Sanders of Willis, TX, James Sanders of US Navy stationed in Florida, Derick Bryant of Zipperian’s Corner, and Jory Plunkett of Allen, TX. Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, July 2, 2005 at Christ Episcopal Church in Matagorda with the Rev’s Harley Savage and Hoss Gwin officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City. Pallbearers will be Larry Roe, Danny Broadwater, Frank Boultinghouse, Jr., Eric Sanders, Derick Bryant, and Justin Hayden. Honorary Pallbearers will be James Sanders and Jory Plunkett. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday evening at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Arrangements with Taylor Bros.
