Arnold Fred Alberts
Arnold Fred Alberts, 82, of Alvin, Texas passed
away on November 7, 2011 in Friendswood, Texas. He was born on April
8, 1929 in Madison, Iowa to Folkert Alberts and Talena (Johnson)
Alberts. He married Wanda Estelle Abshier on August 14, 1954, in New
Gulf, Texas. They resided in Alvin for 43 years. He was a member of
the First United Methodist Church of Alvin. He served in the United
States Air Force during the Korean War at Lackland Air Force Base in
San Antonio, Texas, Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi,
and Reese Air Force in Lubbock, Texas. He retired from Monsanto on
January 1, 1990 after 28 years of service.

Wanda Estelle Alberts, 80, of Alvin, Texas passed
away on May 17, 2012, in Friendswood, Texas. She was born on March
28, 1932 in Bay City, Texas to James R. Abshier and Lois E. (Lee)
Abshier. She married Arnold Fred Alberts on August 14, 1954, in New
Gulf, Texas. They resided in Alvin for 43 years. She graduated summa
cum laude from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, with a Bachelor's
of Arts degree from the College of Arts and Sciences in May 1953.
She served as medical technology intern from July 1953 to July 1954
at Baylor University Hospital in Dallas, Texas. She was a homemaker
until 1971, when she started working for Galveston County Memorial
Hospital (now Mainland Center) in Texas City, Texas. She worked at
the hospital for 21 years first as a Lab Technician and later
promoted to Lab Technologist. As a homemaker she was involved in her
sons' activities, and enjoyed cooking, gardening, refurbishing
furniture and lamps, and crafts such as crocheting, shadow boxing,
and ornament making. She was a member of the First United Methodist
Church of Alvin, the United Methodist Women's Group, Friendship
Class, and served as a Sunday school teacher and aide. She was a
long-time member of the Alvin Garden Club.

Parker Sr. & Geraldine Elizabeth Crow Parker. She is survived by her husband: David Turnipseede of Waco; 2 sons: Scott Barnett and wife Shari of Sweeny, and Clay Barnett of Whitney; daughter: Sally Barnett of Waco; 7 grandchildren: Megan, Dylan, Haley, Landon, Hunter, Erin, and Christopher; sister: Susan Hunt and husband Jim of Dallas; nephew: Alan Hunt and wife Monica of Dallas; niece: Nicole White and husband King of Dallas; 4 great-nieces: Parker, Drew, Isabella, and Daniela; great-nephew: Alan; aunt: Johnna Norris of Bay City; half-sister: Lillian Underwood of Frisco; half-brother: Bob Parker of Cypress; and several other beloved family members. She was preceded in death by father: Robert Henry Parker, Sr. and mother: Geraldine Crow Parker Ramsey. The deceased was a retired employee of Groce Wearden Company for 43 years and served on the Board of Directors of Groce Wearden. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Fred Broughton of Bay City, a son, Fred Broughton, Jr., of Houston, daughters, Mrs. Frank Sliva of Bay City and Mrs. Jessica Leslie of San Antonio, brothers, Earl and W. H. Broughton of Bay City and Seldon Broughton of Corpus Christi, a sister, Mrs. Ludolph Heiligbrodt of Bay City and five grandchildren. Lorraine P. Broughton Lorraine P. Broughton, 66, of Bay City died April 9 at the Diagnostic Hospital in Houston. She had retired two years ago as executive vice president of Bay City Federal Savings and Loan after 41 years of service. Survivors include: son, Fred Broughton Jr. of Houston; two daughters, Mrs. Frank (Barbara) Sliva of Bay City and Mrs. Roy (Jessica) Leslie of San Antonio; two sisters, Mrs. F. A. Hurley and Mrs. R. B. McCullough both of Bay City; five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 10 at 3:30 p. m. at the Bay City Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. W. D. Baker officiating. Daily Tribune, April 9 or 10, 1979 Prominent Banker Dies in Houston Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon for Lorraine P. Broughton who died April 9 at the Diagnostic Hospital in Houston. Mrs. Broughton had retired from her position as executive vice president of Bay City Federal Savings and Loan in March of 1977. She had been with the local bank for 41 years. She joined the savings and Loan in January 1936 as a general office worker and was the only one working in the office until 1945. In 1956 she was appointed secretary-treasurer of the association, a post she held until May of 1968 when she was appointed to her new position. She served for a two year term as director of the Gulf Coast Savings and Loan League. Mrs. Broughton was honored with a reception at the bank upon her retirement. Services will be held at 3:30 p. m. April 10 at the Bay City Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. W. D. Baker officiating. Interment will be at the Cedarvale Cemetery.

Lettie’s physical body passed away November 14, 1999, but her soul returned to God to bathe in His light.
Funeral services for Lettie Frances Brown, 69, of Bay City, will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 17, 1999, at the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Tom Crowe and the Rev. Pauline Harvey officiating. She will lie in state at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home on Monday until 9:00 PM and on Tuesday from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery.
Lettie Frances Brown was born August 2, 1930, in Waco, Texas to the late Thomas and Myrtle Dickerson Sullins. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a resident of Bay City since 1961, and a member of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include: her husband, Jack Edward Brown of Bay City; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and James Root of Ridgeland, Mississippi; grandson, Micha C. Hill of Oakland, California; and brother, Howard Sullins of Waco.
Pallbearers will be Cecil Mast, Don Pollard, Austin Green, Bill Och, David Hill, and Joe Howard Sullins. Contributions may be made to Hospice Support Inc., 1102 N. Mechanic, Suite B, El Campo, TX 77437. Arrangements handled by Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.

He was the owner of TLC Rental Tool, Inc. and a lifetime member of the 100 Club. He was a veteran of World War II where he served with the U. S. Army. Gordon Lee Cook Gordon Lee Cook, 44, of Bay City passed away July 2, 1995 at Methodist Hospital in Houston. He was born November 12, 1950 in Bay City to Mark and Oleta Campbell Cook. He was a life long resident of Matagorda County and a member of The First United Methodist Church. He was the director of the Bay City Gas Company; served on the Education Committee and the Board of Directors of the Texas Gas Association; past chairman of the Matagorda County Fairgrounds Committee; was the 1994-1995 president of the Bay City Lions Club; served as Chairman and Director of the Rice Festival; was past president of the Bay City Booster Club; was the founder and served as chairman of the Friends of the Blackcats; was a director of the Blackcat Classic Golf Tournament; was a longtime Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball Coach in Bay City; and was a volunteer umpire for Youth Baseball. He was preceded in death by his father, Mark Cook in 1962. He is survived by his best friend and wife of 21 years, Sheri Humphries Cook of Bay City; his mother, Oleta Cook of Bay City; one daughter, Jessica Cook of Bay City; one sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Charles Louis Williams of Bay City; by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Clifton and Marilyn Cook of Houston and Ronnie Cook of McKinney, Texas; his mother-in-law, Wannie Humphries of Bay City; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lesa and David Tidwell of Belton, Texas, Jim and Elsa Humphries of Bay City, and Judy and Tommy Rowland of El Campo; by eleven nieces and nephews. Cook William Edward Cook (December 9, 1915 - February 5, 2010) William Edward Cook was born in Emmit Arkansas Dec. 9, 1915 to the late William Joseph & Teresa Isabelle Sulzer Cook. He married the late Dorothy Ellis Cook in 1939 and moved to Bay City in 1948. He was a World War II Veteran and was retired as a First Class Machisist with Phillips Petroleum where he worked for over 30 years. He is survived by his daughters Gwen Templeton and Charlene Harvey; grandchildren Claudette Chanik, Eddie Chanik and Lyndell Joe Chanik; great grandchildren Laurie Bass and Larry Hunt; great-great grandchildren Crystal Bell Bass and Stormy Dawn Bass; brother Imon Cook and numerous nieces and nephews.

Burial will be in the Cedarvale Cemetery, Bay City. Survivors include her husband William Claude, of the home, one daughter, Mrs. John C. Mr. Ehlert was born Feb. 3, 1927 in Bay City to William E. and Naomi J. Meschkat Ehlert Sr. and died Oct. 17, 1993 in Matagorda General Hospital. A member of the First Baptist Church, he served there as a teacher for the Men’s Sunday School Class in the Adult II Department, chairman of the Deacons for 1992 and 1993 and he was chairman of the Missions Committee for the Colorado Association. He was employed by Phillips Petroleum Co. in Sweeny for 32 years and served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Jean Davis Ehlert of Bay City; his mother, Naomi J. Ehlert of Bay City; a son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Karen Ehlert of Katy; two daughters, Kathy Ehlert of Spring and Susie Huebner of Bay City; a daughter and son-in-law Judy and Richard Tinsley of Cypress; a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Kenneth Hite of Bay City and 11 grandchildren.
