Final Rites Held For Eugene Watkins Here Last Week

Funeral services for Eugene Watkins, 69, were held here Wednesday last week with the Rev. Jack Lancaster of the First Presbyterian Church officiating.

Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Melvin Luna of Houston; one son, Lloyd Watkins of Bay City; three sisters, Mrs. Elma Polinird of Arcadia, Miss Annie Watkins and Mrs. Lorena Maneke of Houston; one brother, Sam, of Bay City; three grandchildren.

Final Rites Held Here Tuesday For Mrs. Alma Watkins

Funeral services for Mrs. Alma Watkins were held Tuesday at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. Herbert Polinard of the Height’s Christian Church in Houston officiating.

Mrs. Watkins died in Houston Monday at the age of 73 years. Burial was in Cedarvale Cemetery with Taylor Brothers in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Melvin Luna of Houston; one son, Lloyd Watkins of Bay City; two sisters, Mrs. Bulellah Lee and Mrs. Pearl Adams; one brother, Ernest Calhoun of Pharr.

Henry Wichmann

Henry Wichman

Mr. Henry Wichman, a splendid man and one of the county’s best farmers, died Sunday morning at the Loos hospital following an operating for acute appendicitis. Mr. Wichman, however, had been ill with some serious stomach trouble for sometime.

The funeral was from Taylor Bros. funeral home this afternoon at 4 o’clock. Burial was in Cedarvale cemetery.

At the time of his death Henry Wichman was 53 years of age. He had been a resident of the Buck’s Bayou settlement for many years and was known to all as a frugal, honest and successful farmer. He was of a retiring nature, but had many staunch and loyal friends in his neighborhood and in the city where all his business dealings were had. Decedent was born April 7, 1878 in Fayette county and moved later with his parents to Bastrop county. On November 26, 1900, he married Miss Anna Wilde at Paige, Bastrop County. Twenty years ago Mr. and Mrs. Wickman moved to the county settling on a farm where they resided continuously. Besides the wife he leaves three brothers, two sisters and several nieces and nephews.

The Tribune extends its deepest sympathy to the wife and brother.

Mr. Angus Williams, age 72 years, 6 months and 2 days, died this morning at 12:30. He had been caretaker of the Cedarvale Cemetery for more than twenty-five years.

He will be buried this afternoon at 4 o ‘clock. Funeral services will be conducted from the Walker Matchett Funeral Home, Rev. A. J. McCary will officiate.

He is survived by one stepdaughter, Mrs. Ella Owens and one Stepson, Steve Abrego of Lake Charles, Louisiana.

E. M. Williamson Last Rites Held Here Sunday At 3

Earnest M. Williamson, 71, over forty years a resident in Bay City died Saturday at Matagorda General Hospital and services were held Sunday afternoon at 3 from Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Services were jointly conducted by the Rev. Aubrey C. Maxted of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and Rev. G. R. House of the First Methodist Church. Burial was in Cedarvale Cemetery under direction of Taylor Bros.

Pallbearers were W. F. Tetts, Albert Wadsworth, Joe Milner, Morris Richardson, Austin Lee and Carey Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sallie Williamson and one half sister, Mrs. J. E. Duff of Houston.

He was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, a member of Bay City AF & AM Lodge 865.

For the last several years he was engaged in the furniture repair and upholstery business and his craftsmanship was of such quality that people from many miles around brought him work to do. Prior to going into business for himself he was foreman at the Tribune Printing Company, a position he held for nearly 20 years.

Funeral services for Ramond C. Wilson Sr., 66, of Bay City will be held at 10 a. m. Monday at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Harold Glenn Brown officiating. Burial will be at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.

Mr. Wilson was born July 26, 1918, in Glasco, KY., and died April 5, 1985, at Matagorda General Hospital. Mr. Wilson was an Army veteran of World War II and Korea, as well as a member of the First Christian Church.

Surviving Mr. Wilson are his wife, Ellen Jane Wilson of Bay City, father, L. R. Wilson of Glasco, KY; daughter, Mrs. Sue Walske of New Braunfels; son, Ramond C. Wilson Jr. of San Carlos, Calif.; sisters, Mrs. Imo Gean Sharp of Bryan, Orpha B. Laparte of Bryan and Mrs. Honor Moore of Pensacola, Fla.; brothers, Joel Allen Wilson and George Wilson of Glasco and Earl Russell of West Bristol, Pa.

Arrangements are with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.

Wooley, Hiram Benjaman, 76, Route 1, Bay City. Passed away Wednesday in Gulf Coast Medical Center, Wharton. Lived in Matagorda County most of his life. Funeral services will be held 10 a. m. Saturday morning at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home. Interment will be in Cedarvale Cemetery. Wooley is survived by a daughter, Jeneva Wooley of Bay City; three sisters, Mrs. J. M. Spates and Mrs. Maybell Briscoe, both of Freeport, and Mrs. Bessie Marshall of New Orleans, La., and one brother, W. F. Wooley of Velasco. Pallbearers will be Frankie Spates, James Spates, Preston Spates, Frank H. King, Fred King, and Earl Sirman. Funeral arrangements under the direction of Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.

Dr. Clarence R. “Jack” Woolsey, 77, of Corpus Christi died January 6th at the Corpus Christi Hospital. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Corpus Christi; a practicing Osteopathic Physician in Corpus for nearly 50 years; began practice in 1925; after graduation from Kirville College of Osteopathy and Surgery in Kirksville, Mo. he was a member of the American Osteopathic Association; Past President of Western States Osteopathic Society of Proctology; First President of Corpus Christi Osteopathic Hospital Board of Directors; Former Chief of Staff of Osteopathic Hospital; member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board; Member of Masonic Lodge with Knights Templar Degree; Served on Board of Directors of Corpus Christi Rotary Club; Member of County Paroled Board; and Vice Chairman of the City Parks and Recreation Board. Born in the Methodist Parsonage in Winchester he moved to Bay City with his family, where he graduated from high school. After attending Texas A. & M in 1917 he enlisted in the Navy and served as Petty Officer during W. W. I. After graduation from college he married Cleo Tetts of Bay City. Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Corpus Christi, January 8th at 10 a. m. and interment will be at 3 p. m. January 8th at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John E. Sterling, Robert, and Bill Woolsey; John and Paul Breedlove. Arrangements with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cleo Tetts Woolsey, 75, of Corpus Christi, died Monday, November 27, in a Tyler Hospital. She was born October 5, 1903 in Many, Louisiana and was a resident of Corpus Christi for the past 53 years. Survivors include her daughters, Mrs. Ray “Mary Katherine” Breedlove of Tyler and Mrs. J. Franklin “Ann Elizabeth” Allen of Houston, a son John F. Woolsey of Bay City, seven grand children and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church in Bay City, Wednesday, November 29, at 2:00 p. m. Rev. Don Peevey will officiate. Interment at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Paul Breedlove, John Breedlove, William N. Woolsey, Thomas Woolsey, Russell A. Matthes and Vim X. Rye. Arrangements under the direction of Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.

Jessica Lynnanne Wooten
(August 22, 1975 - December 12, 2011)

Our Beautiful Jessica Lynnanne Yates Wooten made the transition from her life on earth to her life in heaven on December 11, 2011. She was an angel given to Gary Lynn Yates and Dorothy Ann Redinger Yates who arrived on August 22, 1975.

She was the loving wife of Jesse Wooten and the mother of her pride and joy, Dylan Ty Wooten. Jessica was the little sister of Christopher Wayne Yates and the big sister of Olivia Mary Bouldin Brent. She was the granddaughter of Sylvia Redinger and the late Oliver Redinger and the late Gordon and Van Yates. Her much-adored nieces and nephews are Lauren Michelle and Christopher Mitchell Yates, Jacob McNair, Lindsay Lynnanne and Jared Adam Brent.

Professionally, Jessica was a registered dental assistant at Bay City Dental. She was a vibrant, strong woman who fought a very long battle against cancer. She left an indelible mark on all of us who loved her and on all who knew her.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 5:00 PM Wednesday. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Lane Pardue officiating. She will be laid to rest at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City. Michael McArthur, Stoney Seyferth, William Atherton, Scott Avants, Jonthen Times, and Brett Lawrence have been entrusted to be her pallbearers.

Mr. A. T. Wright, for the past several years a citizen of Bay City, died at his home last night at 11:15 after an illness of long standing caused by ____ of the stomach. The burial took place in Cedarvale this afternoon the Christian pastor of Palacios officiating.

Mr. Wright was a little past 65, a member of the Christian church, a good citizen, father and husband. He was of a retiring nature, quiet and unassuming and, when able, always engaged in his pursuits. For the past year he has been ill, and for the past several weeks bed-ridden.

Mr. Wright is survived by his wife and four daughters, Mrs. D. E. Keller, Mrs. Dan Mills, Mrs. Buchanan and Miss Wright.

The Tribune joins the family’s many friends in an expression of the deepest sympathy.

Mrs. Ida E. Wright, age 59 years 5 months and 23 days, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Leon Armatta, in Tomball, Texas, Thursday at 5:15 PM. Mrs. Wright is survived by: one son, Jessie V. Wright of Goose Creek, Texas; five daughters, Mrs. D. E. Keller of Bay City, Mrs. I. L. Sims of Houston, Mrs. G. W. Gilday of Harlingen, Mrs. Dan Mills of Wharton and Mrs. Leon Armatta of Tomball, Texas. Mrs. Wright lived in Bay City for a number of years.

 

Funeral services will be held this Friday at 3:30 PM at the funeral chapel of Taylor Bros. Interment will be in Cedarvale Cemetery under the direction of Taylor Bros.

Graveside funeral services for Milton M. Wynne of Houston are scheduled for 2 p. m. Sunday at Cedarvale Cemetery, the Rev. David C. Duncan of the First Presbyterian Church officiating.

Mr. Wynne, 78, was born Sept. 2, 1910, in Bay City to Robert and Virginia Wynne and died Sept. 16, 1988, in Houston after a brief illness.

A 1927 graduate of Bay City High School, he attended Austin College in Sherman and the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He served two years with the U. S. Army during World War II primarily in the South Pacific.

He was a career employee with Gulf Oil.

Survivors include a brother, Robert Edward Wynne of Dallas; two sisters-in-law, Willa Grace Reed Wynne of Houston and Rubye Floyd Davis Wynne of Dallas; two nephews, Dr. Robert L. Wynne and Kenneth R. Wynne, both of Houston; and two nieces, Carol Wynne Donathan of Austin and Marty Wynne of Dallas.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Bay City, the American Cancer Society or the favorite charity of your choice.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction s of Dick R. Elkins Funeral Home, Bay City.

Mrs. Frances Wallace Ziegenhals, 95, of Bay City, died September 10 at her residence in Bay City. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the last charter member of the church. Mrs. Ziegenhals is the widow of the late Oscar W. Ziegenhals. Survivors include: sons, Oscar W. of El Campo and Charles B. of Bay City; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Bay City, Friday, September 12, at 11 a. m. with Dr. Leslie LeGrande of St. Matthews Church, Houston, officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers are Bill Woolsey, Dan Mathews, Dick Wallace, Tom Simpson, Sam Maglitto and John Dickerson.
