Mrs. Pearl P. Rice, of Bay City, passed away at the age of 54, on September 29, in Matagorda General Hospital. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Billie Jean Briggs and Mrs. Margaret Hayes of Bay City; three sons, Johnny Kirk of Kingsville, Tommy Kirk of Minden, Louisiana, and Jason Rice, Jr. of Bay City; six sisters, Mrs. Gladys Hairston of West Columbia, Mrs. Myrtle Brannen of Waco, Mrs. Georgie Haley, Mrs. Falbye Elliott, and Mrs. Cartie Hudersten of Plainview, and Mrs. Opel Nix of Snyder; also 11 grandchildren.
Services will be held at the First Pentecostal Church, September 30, at 4:00 PM, with the Reverend James Coots officiating. Interment will be in Cedarvale Cemetery. Arrangements were made through Taylor Brothers Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Stanley Sweeny, Alfred Smith, B. C. Davis, Miller Childress, Chuck Sherill, and Harvey McLain.

Albert Payter Riis-Due Funeral services for Albert Payter Riis-Due, 63, manager of the Bay City Country Club, will be held at 3 p. m. today in the First Presbyterian Church, Rev. A. T. Dyal officiating. Masonic graveside services by the Bay City Lodge No. 835 will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Mary Carter Riis-Due; two sons, Albert of Houston and Carter William of Bay City, a daughter, Mrs. Paul Orlopp of Houston; and two grandchildren. Riis-Due formerly managed the Seven Oaks and Northview Country Clubs in San Antonio and the Westwood Country Club in Austin. A Mason and a Shriner, he was a veteran of World War I. Funeral arrangements are being conducted by Bay City Funeral Home. The Daily Tribune, March 7, 1966 Mary Genevieve Carter Riis-Due Graveside services for Mary Genevieve Carter Riis-Due, 80, were held Friday at San Fernando Cemetery, San Antonio. Mrs. Riis-Due was born July 6, 1909, to Stacer and Elizabeth Carter Sr. of San Antonio and died Aug. 9, 1989. She was noted for her charity and community work at St. Gerard Parish, and her singing and stage career with the San Antonio Civic Opera and St. Gerard. During World War II she performed with Bob Hope and Bing Crosby and did countless other radio shows. One of her movie roles during this time was “I Wanted Wings,” with William Holden. Her career also included assisting her late husband, Albert Riis-Due Sr., in managing country clubs and hotels in Fort Worth, Corpus Christi, Austin, San Antonio, Tennessee and Bay City. Survivors include her children, Geraldine, Albert Jr. and Carter; brothers Nicholus and James Carter, sisters, Frances Wondrak of Houston and Pearl Schenk of Indiana; and grandchildren, Bradford, Suzette, Christopher Schell, Tracey, Stephanie, Stacey and Chris Brooks; and great-grandchildren, Whitney and Max.

Geneva Pearl Spelts, 95, passed away February 16, 2015 in Bay City, TX. She was born June 7, 1919 in Greene County, Indiana to Benjamin Franklin and Ida Belle Hunt Frye. Geneva is preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by daughters Janice Forth of Palacios, TX and Mary Jo Van Winkle of Martinsville, IN; son John W. Spelts of Scottsburg, IN; sister Martha Hendershott of Greenville, IN; brother Jack Frye of Evansville, IN; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren. Carrie Mae Roe Carrie Mae Roe Dies in Wharton Hospital Today Carrie Mae Roe, 10-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Roe of Bay City, died this morning at the Rugeley Blasingame Hospital in Wharton at 5:40 o’clock. Funeral services will be conducted at the Matchett-Newman Funeral Home at 4 o’clock Saturday afternoon with the Rev. M. A. Marshall of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Cedarvale Cemetery. Besides her parents, survivors include two brothers, Harry and Larry.

Funeral Services For Willis Guy Roe Held Here Thursday Funeral services for Willis Guy Roe, 69, were held Thursday afternoon at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. H. Shearer officiating. Interment was in the Cedarvale Cemetery. Mr. Roe had lived in Bay City since 1924. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. V. H. Agnew of Bay City; five sons, Walter Guy, LeRoy, and F. W. of Bay City, Howard of Wadsworth, and Jack of LaPorte; one brother, Russell of Palacios.

Henry Rose Funeral Rites Will Be Held Here Saturday At 10 Mr. Henry Rose, age 23 years, 7 days, passed away at Austin Thursday. His remains were sent to Bay City for interment. Mr. Rose is survived by his mother, Mrs. B. E. Rose; five sisters, Mrs. Lee Jenkins, Mrs. Curtis Reed, of Bay City, Mrs. V. C. Sparks and Mrs. Edwin Misier [Mosier] of Palacios and Mrs. Walter Rinehart of Arizona; and one brother, Elmer Kay Rose of Palacios. Funeral services will be held at the residence of his sister, Mrs. Lee Jenkins, Saturday at 10:00 a. m. with Rev. B. L. Blankenship officiating. Burial will be in Cedarvale Cemetery. Taylor Bros. are in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Funeral services for Ivy Rouse Swinford, 75, of Bay City, are scheduled for 10 a. m. Saturday at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home of Bay City with the Reverends Bill Jobe and Bill Haskell officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City. Mrs. Swinford was born Nov. 16, 1918, in Bay City to Aaron and Audrey Smith Fondon and died June 2, 1994, in Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City. A lifelong resident of Bay City, she was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Frank L. Swinford Jr. of Bay City; a son, Melvin E. Rouse of Bay City; a sister, Elsie Sterry of Rosenberg; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Rouse and a sister, Beulah Whitney and two brothers, Earl and George M. Fondon. Pallbearers are Doc McFrankson, Harv Harvey, James Jones, Jim Kilbride and Kim Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers are John Faseler, George Kilbride, Jim Palmer, Jess Sanford, Bob Skinner, Raymond Stridde, Charles Fondon, John Fondon, Robbie Roberson, Gary Davis and Charles Skelly. Arrangements are with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.

Delilah Rouse May 30, 1885 – February 15, 1952
Funeral services for Mrs. Delilah Jane Rouse, age 66 years, were held at 2:00 PM Sunday from the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jack Lancaster officiating. Mrs. Rouse died February 15th in the Matagorda General Hospital.
Surviving are: one daughter, Mrs. E. A. Mixon; two sons, H. P. and A. E. Rouse of Bay City; five sisters, Mrs. Mollie Frankel of Gulfport, Mississippi, Mrs. Eunice Jones and Mrs. Martha Lowery of Pensacola, Florida, Mrs. Maud Braders of Sancier, Mississippi; four brothers, Frank Hudson of New Albany, Mississippi, Charles Hudson of Little Rock, Arkansas, Norman and Wiley Hudson of Gulfport, Mississippi.
Interment was in the Cedarvale Cemetery under the direction of the Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Elmer Fanson, A. N. Anderson, Bill Tillman, John O’Neal, Vernon Leissner, and Phillip T. Wilson.

Audrell W. White Faye Senior White Audrell William White Funeral services for Audrell William White, 81, of Bay City will be held at 3 p. m. Saturday at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Dugger officiating. Burial will be in Cedarvale Cemetery. Mr. White was born Sept. 2, 1905, in New Orleans, La., to William L. and Elizabeth Schmidt White and died April 16, 1987, at his residence. A resident of Bay City since 1910, he was a member of the Methodist church. Survivors include a daughter, Nelavee Stegall of El Toro, Calif.; two sisters, Veronica Franz of Bay City and Lucille Ottis of Wadsworth; three grandchildren; and a long-time friend, Marie Shaw of Bay City. Arrangements are with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home. Daily Tribune, April 1987 Faye S. White Faye S. White, 65, of Bay City died Sept. 5 in Matagorda General Hospital. She was born Nov. 19, 1909 in Dripping Springs. Survivors include: her widower, Audrell W. White of the home and daughter, Nellavee Stegall of Fairbanks, Alaska, and four grandchildren. Funeral service was held Sept. 7, at Taylor Bros. chapel with officiating was Rev. James E. Thompson from the First United Methodist Church. Pallbearers were Charles L. Williams, Clinton White, Allan Franz, Walter Burnett, Bobby White, Jimmy Williams, and Norwood Burris. Arrangements with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.
