Julius Earl Aaron Aaron, Julius Earl, 81, a resident of Bay City for 15 years, passed away in Herman Hospital in Houston May 16. Local Businessman Dies – Harry Ellis Harry J. Ellis, 57, a life long resident of Matagorda County, and manager of the Sherwin-Williams Store in Bay City, died Tuesday in the Matagorda General Hospital. Ellis was formerly associated with the Long Theatres before becoming manager of Sherwin-Williams, where the was manager for the past nine years. Born in Francitas, Nov 23, 1917, he moved to Bay City in 1924 and graduated from Bay City High School in 1936. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bay City, a charter member of the Bay City Country Club and the Bay City Men’s Golf Association. He is survived by his widow, Mildred W. Ellis of Bay City and one brother, Glenn Ellis of Bay City. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 p. m. at the First Presbyterian Church, and burial will be in the Cedarvale Cemetery. Martha Jane Etie Martha Jane Etie, 97, of Bay City, TX, passed away May 8, 2014. She was born May 12, 1916 in Bay City, TX to the late Zachary DeLano and Frannie Jane Nuckols DeLano. She was a 1934 graduate of Bay City High School, where she served as the 1st Drum Major and President of Girls Reserve. She owned and operated Etie’s Café for 40 years and served as Tax A/C for the City of Bay City for 26 years. She loved to crochet and bake for everyone and was an active member of Nichols Street Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ashley Joseph Etie; son, Kenneth Guynn; and sister, Maurine Cole. Survivors include her sons, Neil Warwick Etie and wife Gloria of Corpus Christi, and Louie Etie and wife Mary of Bay City; grandchildren, Cheyne Ashley Etie and wife Caity of Houston, Dustin John Etie and wife D’Nae of College Station, John Bartkowiak, Sharon Whitlock, Troy Harris and Larry Harris; and great-granddaughter, Peyton Leigh Etie. Robert Taylor Huebner Funeral services for Robert Taylor Huebner, 80, of Palacios will be 10 a. m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, Palacios, with the Rev. W. S. “Doug” Blanton officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery, Bay City. Mr. Huebner was born Aug. 2, 1910, near Bay City on a ranch started by his grandfather and died Aug. 30, 1990, at his home in Palacios. During World War II, Mr. Huebner served with the U. S. Army in the European Theatre, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. In 1981 after moving to Palacios, he joined the Sons of the Republic of Texas. Along with his brother, Raleigh, Mr. Huebner formed the Matagorda chapter and was also elected into “The Order of the Knights of San Jacinto” in 1988, which is the highest honor within the gift of the Sons of the Republic of Texas. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Don and Bonnie Huebner of Reston, Va.; a sister, Luceile Wilkinson of Bay City; a brother, Raleigh Huebner of Bay City; and a sister-in-law, Jean Huebner of Bay City; and a sister-in-law, May Bourgeois, of Houston. He is also survived by five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one niece and three nephews. Mr. Huebner was preceded in death by his wife, Irma Hander Huebner and a brother, M. T. Huebner. Funeral services for Nettie Irene Mayhew, 79, of Bay City, will be held today at 2:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Chester Sassman officiating. Interment will be at Cedarvale Cemetery.
Mrs. Mayhew was born February 16, 1919, in Leon County, to the late James and Susie Elizabeth Quinn Byrd.
She was a longtime Bay City resident, a member of the Church of Christ, and a member of VFW Post #2438 Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors are: husband, Ralph Martell Mayhew of Bay City; daughters and sons-in-law Lauren Adelle and George Smith of College Station, Texas and Linda and Anton Kucera of Bay City; son and daughter-in-law Richie Martell and Nancy Mayhew of Bay City; sisters Hettie Thompson of Bay City and Edna McDaniel of Tomball; grandchildren Brett Bevers, Amy Schelp and husband Henry; great granddaughter Briahna Yuodsnukis; also special friends Kate McLaughlin of Bay City.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Jo Ann Loose on October 11, 1989.

Mrs. McDonald was born February 24, 1908, in Bay City to Thomas M. and Clifford Ann Dudley Thompson, and died December 13, 1993, in Matagorda General Hospital.
A lifelong resident of Bay City, she was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: her husband, James Neil McDonald, Sr. of Bay City; two daughters, Joyce Turner of Bryan and Mary Ann Sutton of Bay City; three sons, J. N. McDonald, Jr. of Bay City, T. L. McDonald of Alvin and Bryan McDonald of Bay City; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Marei Bea Elizondo Ortiz, 12, of Bay City, will be held 4:00PM Wednesday at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Joe DeLeon, Jr., Saul Garcia and Vincent DeLeon officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery, Bay City. A prayer service is scheduled for 7:00PM Tuesday at the Taylor Brothers Funeral Home Chapel.
Miss Ortiz was born March 17, 1978, to Jesus and Ruby Rodriguez Ortiz, and died August 11, 1990, in Houston.
A lifelong resident of Bay City, she was a member of the A and B Honor Roll at Linnie Roberts School, a member of the Rose of Sharon Pentecostal Church in Van Vleck, and attended the Temple de Dios in Clute on a regular basis. She loved to sing and play the tambourine, receiving an award in choir.
She was a Girl Scout for three years, where she received numerous patches. She was a volunteer in anything that involved helping people, especially children. She was a cheerleader in the “Just Say No to Drugs” club and a cheerleader for the Redskins Football Team in 1989.
She is survived by: her parents, Jesus Ortiz, Sr. and Ruby R. Ruiz, both of Bay City; a sister, Feena Tonya Rodriguez Ortiz of Bay City; maternal grandparents, Roy and Lupita Rodriguez of Bay City; paternal grandparents, Jose and Elia Ortiz of Mexico.

Charlie James Reese, Jr.
Charlie James Reese, Jr. was born on April 24, 1921
in Wadsworth, Texas to the late James Reese, Sr. and Omay Deloras
Williams Reese. He passed away on Friday, Sept. 10, 2010. Charlie grew
up in Jackson County, Texas. He attended Civil Conservation Corp Camp in
1939. He then enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard serving in WWll. He then
worked in the smelting department at Alcoa Plant. Charlie then went to
work for the City of Bay City as the Assistant Director of Public Works.
Charlie also worked as a Heavy Equipment Superintendant. He is survived
by his brother; Johnny Reese and wife Pat; sister; Mildred Reese
Griffith and Dorothy Reese Allen; sisters-in-law, Lillian (Lydia) Reese;
Step-son, Chuch Oglesby; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by sisters; Tresa Nora Reese, Rosalea Tumlingson,
brothers, Tommie Reese, Gillius Reese, Tony Calvin Reese and Eddie
Reese; by sisters-in-law Shirley Reese, Dorothy Reese, and Lavon Reese.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4-6p.m. at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.

Burial to follow at Cedarvale Cemetery, Bay City. Mr. Voyles was born Aug. 30, 1908, in Whitt and died in Methodist Hospital, San Antonio, on April 14, 1990. Mr. Voyles attended the University of Texas and lettered in track and football. In 1933, he was a member of the mile relay team which set a record that stood for about 12 years. He served as a member of the Bay City School Board from 1953-60, and was president of the board in 1956-57. He was an active member of the Wesley Class of the First United Methodist Church, Bay City. Surviving along with his wife Marcia Galloway, a son, Terry Voyles, and grandchildren, Jeff Waggener and Scott Voyles, San Antonio, Katherine Lamb, Dallas and great-grandson, Brent Waggener, San Antonio.
