Frank Bruno Dies Suddenly, Monday Frank Bruno, a Bay City reared and educated citizen, age 47, died suddenly Monday afternoon on Avenue G, in front of the Yeager Restaurant, his death being due to heart failure. Deceased had been in ill health for several years and subjected himself to exposure, lack of proper nourishment and failure to provide comfortable living quarters. Frank was reared in Bay City and graduated from the Bay City schools. He immediately took of the profession of pharmacist and developed into one of the best in the business. For awhile he was associated with the Matagorda Pharmacy of this city, severing his connections, to enter the same business for himself in West Columbia, moving his business from West Columbia to Gulf when sulphur production was at its highest. It is said that Frank soon became independent at Gulf. Leaving there he opened a very high class store at Corpus Christi, but soon thereafter his health began to fail and his competence, as a result, dwindled rapidly. Unusually bright, keen of perception and well trained in the line of his work, this unfortunate man was, in his better days, well liked and popular and was held in high esteem. Peace, at last, has come to him. His cares are over and a bothered soul has wafted its flight to that “undiscovered country from whose bourne no traveler returneth,” there to rest, let us hope, happily until the eternal dawn. If we could but know what was on his mind; if we could realize the great hurt that rankled within him; if we could see the cause of the rebellion which fought for supremacy against his better nature; if we could feel, for a second, with him the torture of disappointments and reverses, perhaps, then, we could understand, and, understanding, we could and would watch with ever-increasing sympathy and earnest concern the human barge, derelict though it were, as it set its sails for a voyage across the placid seas of eternity with the Haven of Rest its port. At the time of his death Frank Bruno was 47 years, seven months and seven days of age. Surviving are his three daughters, Mrs. Cosimo Lucchesse, and Misses Dorothy and Barbara Bruno, all of San Antonio, and Earl, of McAllen. The funeral was held this afternoon from the funeral parlors of Taylor Brothers, with burial in Cedarvale following immediately.

Lutie Bruse Lutie Bruse Mr. Lutie Bruse, born February 17, 1872, died at his home in Palacios, October 29, 1948, following an illness of long duration. He is survived by his wife, Beulah Bruse of this city, one son, M. L. Bruse, of Houston, four sisters, Mrs. Sophia Reek, of Blair, Nebr., Mrs. Clara Seerk, Ft. Calhune, Nebr., Mrs. Anna Winters, Portland, Ore., Mrs. Lena Bruse, Fremont, Nebr., and two brothers, A. E. Bruse, Webster Grove, Mo., and George Bruse, Blair, Nebr. The remains were taken to Bay City and interred in the Cedarvale Cemetery with burial service of the I. O. O. F. Lodge of which he had been a member many years. Mr. and Mrs. Bruse came to Palacios from Nebraska 36 years ago and had made their home ever since. He was a plumber by trade, a very conscientious workman, and his services were in demand as long as his health permitted him to work. Coming to Palacios in its early days he had seen the many changes in business as well as the progressive moves, and had watched all with interest. In civic affairs he was also an active worker and his home was a place for the gathering of friends and many from out-of-town as well as home folks enjoyed those hospitalities. For the past several years he had been in failing health, suffering from an injured hip which had kept him confined to his home and much of his time he had spent in a wheel chair. Some weeks ago he suffered a stroke from which he never recovered. To the bereaved wife who gave him such devoted and careful attention, other relatives and friends we extend heartfelt sympathy.
