Funeral services for Eugene A. Mixon, 63, a rice farmer and rancher in the Collegeport area, were held at 3:00 PM Sunday in the First Presbyterian Church of Bay City, with Dr. A. T. Dyal officiating. Interment was in the Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.
A resident of Matagorda County for 37 years, he was in the wholesale produce business a number of years. He died at 5:00 AM Saturday in the Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. Mr. Mixon was a former ruling elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Bay City.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Wilma Jeanne Reddoch of Old Ocean, Texas and by two grandchildren.

Broadus Montague Local Man Drowns at Matagorda in Fall From Dredge Inhalator Fails to Resuscitate Broadus Montague Broadus Montague, aged 67, an employee on the United States Dredge Sam Houston now working on the Intracoastal Canal, fell from the catwalk on the spent pipe of the dredge at Matagorda Saturday and was dead when removed from the water. He had been a resident of Bay City for the past several years. An inhalator, rushed to the scene of the accident by Walker-Matchett ambulance, was operated for three hours by Tom Hale without results. A coroner’s verdict of accidental drowning was returned by Justice of the Peace W. E. McNabb. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Walker-Matchett Funeral Home, with Rev. J. M. Harrison officiating. Interment was in the Cedarvale Cemetery. He is survived by his widow and four children; an infant daughter, Zula May, another daughter Mrs. W. B. Chandler of Houston, and two sons, Robert Wayne and Jesse Broadus Montague.

Robert Wayne Montague Services were held for Robert Wayne Montague, 53, of Van Vleck, 10:00 AM today (Wednesday) at the First Baptist Church of Van Vleck. Officiating at the services was the Rev. Mike Zimmerman. Montague was a resident of Bay City and Van Vleck for 13 years. Montague died June 26, 1982, in Hallettsville. Survivors include: wife, Mavis Nash Montague of Van Vleck; mother, Zula Tobeck of Bay City; daughters, Jeanette and Sandra Montague, both of Van Vleck; sons, Robert W. Jr., Jimmy, Harold and Larry Montague, all of Van Vleck; sisters, Dorothy Garmeg of Denver, CO and Zula Norey of Wharton; brothers, Carlos Montague of Bay City, Jesse Montague of Old Ocean, and Leroy Montague of California. Burial was held at Cedarvale Cemetery following the funeral service. Pallbearers included Lois Lawrence, Dennis James, Paul Lowery, Art Martinez, Tom Forehand, and Bradley Atherton. Arrangements were with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.

Ruby Lee Montague Funeral services were held Wednesday morning for Ruby Lee Montague, one-month-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. Montague. Surviving her are her parents; three brothers, William, Carlos, and Robert; one sister, Dorthie, all of Bay City. The Rev. Paul Davis officiated at the services and interment was under the direction of Taylor Brothers.

Mr. W. A. McDaniel, a resident of Brazoria for a number of years, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. O. D. Shaffer, 2801 East 6th Street yesterday morning at the age of 72 years, four months and 27 days.
He is survived by: one daughter, Mrs. O. D. Shaffer of Bay City; one sister, Mrs. Bessie Bryant of Wetmore, Kansas; two brothers, Bart McDaniel of Wetmore, Kansas and John McDaniel of Goff, Kansas.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon from Walker-Matchett Funeral Home, with interment in Cedarvale Cemetery.

Lola M. McDougall, 85, of Matagorda House, died at Matagorda House on June 3.
Survivors include: brother, Bill McKelvey of Beaumont; sisters, Nora M. Ownes of Houston and Maggie M. Estlinbaum of Bay City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at Bay City Funeral Home Chapel on June 5 at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Frank Seaman of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery.
Pallbearers include: Hoody John Estlinbaum, C. V. McKelvy, Todd Clary, Jack McKelvey, Charles Ownes, and Cliff McKelvy. Services are under the direction of Dick R. Elkins Bay City Funeral Home.

Bettie Watkins McGill, 66, of Bay City passed away May 5, 1996 at her residence.
She was born November 2, 1929 in Bay City to Charles E. and Roberta Reeves Watkins. She was a lifelong resident of Bay City, a member of the Presbyterian Church, and was a former employee of Brady’s Flowers in Bay City.
She is survived by: her husband, E. B. “Mack” McGill of Bay City; her mother, Roberta Reeves Watkins of Bay City, one daughter and son-in-law, Carla G. and Jim McMichael of Michigan; one son, Mark B. McGill of Washington; and by an aunt, Lula Mae Oliver of Victoria.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 8, 1996, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.
Arrangements are with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City.

Funeral services for Billie Jane McLendon of Bay City were held 2:00 PM Saturday at First Christian Church, with the Rev. John Richardson and the Rev. Bill Dugger officiating. Burial was in Cedarvale Cemetery.
Mrs. McLendon was born in Rice, Texas, to Robert Tull and Willie Hays Irwin, and died August 6, 1987, at Gulf Coast Medical Center, Wharton.
She was a member of the Gideons Auxiliary, United Methodist Women, United Christian Women’s Club and First Christian Church. She was a deaconess emeritus for First Christian Church and a former member of the Pilot Club. She was a music teacher.
Survivors include: her husband, P. A. “Posey” McLendon of Bay City; a sister, Roberta Irwin of Bay City; a niece, Joan Mewman of Kentwood, Louisiana; and two aunts, Adlyn Boyer of Abilene, Texas, and Florine Hays of Bay City.
Pallbearers include Gerald Clark, Jeff Clark, Troy Curlee, Bert Bindewald, G. A. Jennings and Harvey Handerson.
Arrangements are with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home, Bay City.

Clara Sue McNeely Adams Clara Sue McNeely Adams Graveside services for Clara Sue McNeely Adams, 72, of Bay City, were held at 2 p. m. Monday in Cedarvale Cemetery with Brother Joe Wrape officiating. Mrs. Adams was born Dec. 19. 1921, in Brown Springs, Ark., to Frank and Vesta Tuttle Sharp and died Feb. 25, 1994, in Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City. Survivors include her husband, James Adams of Bay City; two nephews, Steve Sharp of Louisiana and John Allen of Hobson, Calif.; three great-nieces and three great-nephews. Arrangements are with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home of Bay City.

Shelby McPeak Dies In Wharton Tuesday
Mr. I. Shelby McPeak, 54, of 1920 Avenue M, died in Rugeley Blasingame Hospital in Wharton Tuesday afternoon at 5:45. Mr. McPeak had not been in good health for years, but his death was a distinct shock.
Born in Mississippi, he came to Texas and to Bay City with his parents several years ago. He was a veteran of World War I.
He is survived by: his wife, Mrs. Pearl McPeak; one daughter, Mrs. John Herndon of San Antonio; two sons, Shelby R. and Warren, both of Bay City; three sisters, Mrs. E. A. Walker, Mrs. O. R. Hagaman of Bay City, Miss Blanche McPeak of Tyler; one brother, F. B. McPeak of Newgulf.
Funeral services will be conducted by Father C. J. Martin Thursday at 2:30 PM. Taylor Bros. Funeral Home is in charge of the services. Interment will be in Cedarvale Cemetery.
J. O. Stewart, T. L. Steubing, T. Schmersahl, O. R. Hagaman, John Werlla and Leo Hagaman are Pallbearers.
Rosary will be at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home at 8:30 tonight.
