Jessie May Hurst Jessie Mae Hurst Miss Jessie Mae Hurst, 76, of Bay City died April 27, 1977 in Matagorda General Hospital. She was born May 1, 1900 in Florence, Alabama. Survivors include three nieces, Mrs. W. E. Frazier and Mrs. Bob Wilkinson of Bay City and Mrs. Loudie Conklin of Hollywood, Calif.; three nephews, D. J. and Raleigh D. Huebner of Bay City and Robert Huebner of Buffalo, Tx. Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church Friday, April 29 at 4 p. m. with the Rev. W. D. O’Neal officiating. Burial will be in Cedarvale Cemetery. Arrangements with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.

Beulah Ann Huston Beulah Ann Huston Funeral services are pending for Beulah Ann Huston, 52, of Bay City, at Dick Elkins Bay City Funeral Home. Huston died March 16, 1982 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston. Survivors include husband, Tom M. Huston of Bay City; son, Thomas M. Jr. Huston of Lake Jackson; daughter-in-law, Darlene Huston of Lake Jackson; daughter-in-law, Darlene Huston of Lake Jackson; grandchildren, Matthew Joseph and Michelle Annette Huston of Lake Jackson. Huston was a resident of Bay City for 20 years and a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. Arrangements with Dick Elkins Bay City Funeral Home.

Bernard H. Huston Funeral Services For Drowning Victim Held – Bernard Henry Huston Funeral services were held in Wadsworth Tuesday morning for Bernard Henry Huston, 17, son of Mrs. Pat Lundin of Wadsworth, who drowned in a canal Sunday evening a short distance from his home about 6 o’clock. Every effort was made to revive him, it was stated. Surviving are his father and mother, two brothers, Thomas and Patrick, and other relatives. Services were held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial in the Cedarvale Cemetery. Walker-Matchett was in charge of the arrangements.

Final Rites Conducted For W. D. Jackson, 78, At Baptist Church Final rites for William David Jackson, 78, were held Sunday from the First Baptist Church here with the Rev. Allen O. Webb officiating. Mr. Jackson passed away here Saturday. Interment was in Cedarvale Cemetery with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Sullivan and Mrs. Mary Beth Abel, both of Houston; one son, Donald of LaMarque.

Mittie Lou James Funeral services for Mittie Lou James, 82, of Bay City are scheduled for 2 p. m. Friday at the Taylor Brothers Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jerry Measells officiating. Burial will be in Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City. Mrs. James was born Dec. 15, 1910 in Cameron to Roland Edward and Lula Mae Lewis Slater and died Oct. 20, 1993 in Methodist Hospital in Houston. A resident of Bay City since 1917, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bay City and served as the first woman deacon there. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Lee Norris of Bay City; two nephews, Charles Slater of Bay City and Gary Slater of Angleton; a niece, Kay Slater of Bay City and numerous great-nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are John and Thomas Henrichsen, Gary Slater, Charles Slater, Ray Richardson and Taylor Steves. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry W. James in 1965 and a brother, Charles Slater in 1980. In lieu of usual remembrances, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund or Organ Fund. Arrangements are with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home in Bay City.

Joe F. Jenkins Lonnie Inez Jenkins Joe Frank Jenkins Sr. Funeral services for Joe Frank Jenkins Sr., 88, of Bay City will be held 2 p. m. Wednesday with the Revs. Frank Jones and Sam Starks officiating. Eulogist will be Wyatt Ashcraft. Burial will be at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City. Mr. Jenkins was born July 18, 1904 in Madison County to Freeland L. and Anna Belle Duncan Jenkins and he died Dec. 20, 1992 at Matagorda General Hospital. He was a member of the United Pentecostal church and a resident of Collegeport for 72 years prior to moving to Bay City one year ago. Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law; Netina and Chester Young of Houston, Sue and James Clayton of Huntsville, Thelma Nell and George Agnew of Houston and Ann Reynolds of Bay City; a sister, Lottie Knight of Centerville; 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Blackwell Jenkins in 1951 and by two sons, Joe Frank Jenkins Jr. in 1990 and Tommy Jenkins in 1973. Pallbearers will be Carl Corporon, Victor Corporon, Charles Corporon, Russell Corporon, Mason Holsworth and Pat Jewel. In lieu of usual remembrances, donations may be made to the Tupelo Children’s Mansion, P. O. Box 167, Tupelo, Miss. 38802 Arrangements are with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home in Bay City.

Noah A. Johnson Lizzie G. Johnson Elizabeth “Lizzie” Gertrude Johnson Elizabeth “Lizzie” Gertrude Johnson, 85, of Bay City died January 12 at the Matagorda House. Survivors include: daughters, Mrs. J. D. Roe, Mrs. John H. Roe, Mrs. Eula Casey, all of Bay City, and Mrs. Ed Miller of Houston; son C. E. Johnson of Houston; son C. E. Johnson of Corpus Christi; sister, Mrs. Ella Bridger; brother, Cordie Maricle both of Clifton; 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held January 13th at the Baptist Temple Church with the Rev. Davie Sutton officiating. Interment was at the Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers were Charles Schutz, Harry Hamilton, Chris Murphree, Jimmy Stephens, Don Gibbens and Earl Gibbens. Arrangements with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.

Andrew L. Jones Ruth B. Jones Andrew Leonard Jones Funeral services for Andrew Leonard Jones, 79, of Houston scheduled for 2 p. m. today at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home chapel with Verne DiPasca officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City. Mr. Jones was born Feb. 2, 1915, in Cistern to Bert C. and Cecilia Wentercha Jones and died May 16, 1994, in Southmore Hospital in Pasadena. A resident of Houston for two years, he was a former longtime resident of Bay City, a member of VFW Post 2438 and a veteran of World War II. Survivors include two sisters, Wanda Marie York of Tulsa, Okla. and Roberta Rector of Luling; a brother, James P. Jones of Houston and numerous nieces and nephews. Members of the VFW Post 2438 will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements are with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home of Bay City. She was a resident of Bay City for the past 32 years and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include husband, Andres L. Jones of Bay City; sisters, Lewell Moody of Columbus; Myrtle Ausnos of Alto Loma, Erma Vaughn of Bay City and Elaine Hancock of Fort Worth; brothers, Ira Ball of Conroe, Malcolm Ball of Cisco and J. W. Ball of Rosenberg. The funeral was held Sunday, June 1 at 3 pm at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Frank Seaman officiating. Interment was held at Cedarvale Cemetery. Arrangements are made with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.

Walter G. Klein Grace M. Klein Grace Marie Desenberg Klein Grace Marie Desenberg Klein, a resident of Bay City, Texas, for 51 years, passed from this life on Saturday, Jan. 25, 1997 at the age of 76. She was born Dec. 11, 1920 in Lima, Ohio, to the late Harley and Helen Fletcher Desenberg. She married Navy Lt. Walter George “Bud” Klein, in 1943 and they had two children, William and Susan. She worked for several local physicians as a registered nurse for many years. After retiring from nursing, she was the office manager at her son’s dental lab until she suffered a stroke in December of 1992. She was member of the First United Methodist Church in Bay City. Survivors include: a son and his wife William H. “Bill” and Sherry Klein of Bay City; a daughter and her husband Susan and Mark Koenig of Alvin; five grandchildren Cody Klein, Alana Klein, Greg Koenig, Brian Koenig, and Kim Koenig; three great grandchildren Joshua Klein, Brittany Koenig, and Makaila Koenig; sister-in-law Hattie Klein Bunk, of Bay City and brother-in-law Richard Jones, of Bay City. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Desenberg, of Downy, California. Services were held at the Taylor Bros. Funeral Home chapel on Monday, January 27 at 10 a.m. with Joe Wrape officiating. Pallbearers were Cody Klein, Mark Koenig, Greg Koenig, Brian Koenig, Richard Jones, and nephew, Dr. John F. Bunk. Burial was at the Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City Arrangements are with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, Bay City.
