 l to r, J. C. Carrington, unknown, Fred Gillette, Matt Yancy (cook) & Walter Carrington J. C. Carrington was elected County Surveyor of Matagorda County in 1896 and served for 20 years. Mr. Carrington's survey crews would travel by mule team to a location and set up their camp. They slept in tents, and a chuck wagon with "Old Matt" as cook prepared their meals.
