The girls club meeting, Mrs. Sides present, was held at Mrs. George Walker's and they worked on their shoe racks, discussed making smocks and their garden goals for this year.

Mrs. Wallace McDougal and Miss Mildred Walker entertained with an apron and tie party at the home of Mrs. McDougal in honor of the birthday of Messrs. George M. Walker and Wallace Walker. Card games, forty-two, dominoes and dancing were enjoyed. Many nice gifts were received by Messrs. McDougal and Walker. Refreshments of white cocoanut birthday cake and hot chocolate were served to the following: Mr. and Mrs. Brown and family, Mr. and Mrs. Moreland, Mrs. Smith, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. The Ashwood Home Demonstration Club met at the home of Mrs. Geo. Clark with 10 members present. After finishing the business meeting, they had a very interesting discussion of the pamphlet "American Must Choose," by Henry A. Wallace, secretary of agriculture, after which they adjourned to have the next meeting with Mrs. W. T. Orrell, Feb. 5.

Mrs. Kathryn Gibson of Bay City spent Thursday night and Friday with Mrs. Nellie Dunbar and Friday night with Miss Mildred Walker. Fisher Smith was hostess to a party of twenty young people in a camping trip over the week-end. They went pioneer style in a wagon filled with hay and on horseback to the woods where they spent the night around the campfires telling stories, playing games and playing music on the Victrola and accordion, playing jokes on each other and having an imaginary skirmish with the Indians, through the woods, a sunset supper and sunrise breakfast was enjoyed by all. They came home very tired and sleepy, but enjoyed the outing very much and ready to go again soon. Mrs. Anton Hanson served cake and punch to a small group who gathered to wish Katherine a happy birthday Sunday night. Messrs. J. Fisher Smith and Wallace McDougall were week-end visitors in Houston. The Ashwood Woman's Home Demonstration Club met with Mrs. Clark. Two new members were present, Mesdames Jones and Sporoskavoriski. The next meeting will be April 2 with Sporoskavoriski.

Davis Tuesday. Mr. Buck Dunbar was an El Campo visitor Sunday. Miss Eva Smith was a Bay City shopper Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. G. W. The High School Girls 4-H Club met at the home of Marjory Mae Brown with Mrs. Sides present. Mrs. Gregg Lawrence has gone to visit her mother in Crowell for home coming week. Mrs. M. A. Guy is visiting relatives in East Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Whiddon and children of Markham visited in the W. A. Brown Sunday. Mr. B. B. Hopkins returned to Alvin after a short visit with friends here. Mr. C. B. Granberry of Houston visited in the W. T. Orrell home last week. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Dunbar visited relatives in Matagorda Tuesday. Mrs. Dewey Penland and children of Conroe are visiting relatives here. The Ashwood Home Demonstration Club entertained the Van Vleck and Pledger clubs Tuesday at the home of Mrs. J. Fisher Smith with Mrs. Sides present. Twenty-two ladies and six girls were present. Refreshments of frozen fruit salad topped with whipped cream, cheese, wafers, cake and punch were served.

Miss Katherine Hanson, who has been working in Wharton, came home Thursday with a broken collarbone. Misses Sina Jane Hanson, Marjorie May Brown, Doris Dodd, Joan Clark left Friday for the Texas Centennial on a special car from Bay City, sponsored by the 4-H Club. Miss Rose Ellen Hanson attended church in Wharton Friday. Mr. B. W. Martin, Jr., Miss Rose Ellen and Katherine Hanson were in Wharton on business Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Chastun, of Bryan, were visitors in the Chastun home over the week end. Mr. G. M. Walker and John Hanson visited in Pledger Saturday evening and Sunday. Mrs. J. W. Walker and Will Walker and Miss Bertice Walker were business visitors in Bay City last week. Miss Rose Ellen Hanson has accepted a position in Boling. Messrs. Joe Schilico, Melvin Menking, Jerome Kocurek and Joe Pivetz znd Misses Nola and Wilma Menkins, Mary and Tassy Schilic were visitors in the Hanson home last week. Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Walker were business visitors in the Hanson home last week. Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Walker were business visitors in Bay City Monday. Miss Bertie Walker has gone to work in Bay City. Mr. G. M. Walker and Mr. Boker visited in Houston Tuesday on business Mr. and Mrs. Bill Litrell left for Hitchcock last week. Mr. J. P. Chastun, who has been ill, is slowly recovering. Mrs. J. P. Chastun has been on the sick list for the past few days. Miss Eva Smith, who as been very sick has gone to Austin.
