The boys and girls of the Hayes Ranch school have organized an Art Club with the following officers:
President--Billy Kirby We hope to do some Creative Art work. Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Crisp and family visited with Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Sarlls of Victoria County Sunday. Billy and Douglas Kirby visited with Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Crisp Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. H. R. King visited with Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Crisp Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Kirby and family were the Friday night guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. K. Kirby of Edna. Miss Helen Thomas spent Saturday and Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Cosper. Newton Turner and Alton Cosper spent Saturday night and Sunday with Raymond Thomas of Navidad.

The Hayes Ranch school has no P. T. A. organization as this is a Mexican settlement. They will not be in the School Yard and School Room Beautification Contest. They will have an Open House the second week in April. Edna Weekly Herald, Thursday, March 2, 1939

Mrs. A. Carstens and son Mr. Alfred and Miss Laura Valcik visited in the home of Mr. and Mrs. P. C. Butler and family Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Stark of the Vanderbilt community spent Sunday in the A. Stark home. Mr. and Mrs. E. Gassoway and family were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Branch Linam Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Herf Hishauser visited Mr. and Mrs. Claybrook Friday. Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Conner and sons visited Mr. and Mrs. A. Stark and family Sunday. Mrs. J. R. Claybrook and son, Kenneth, spent Friday with Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Claybrook. Mrs. Ernest Christa and family visited Mr. and Mrs. A. Stark and family Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Anders and family visited in the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Claybrook and family Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. E. Gassoway and family spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Rubin Anderson. Mr. and Mrs. Sash visited Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Claybrook and family Sunday. Classroom Activities At school we are adopting the true Christmas spirit properly. Names for our Christmas gifts were drawn Monday. We have finished making cards, seals and tags to send with our presents. Being made with tempera paints we think they are quite attractive decorations. We have also been practicing for our program which is to be held Tuesday evening December 23rd. The public is cordially invited to attend. We want everyone to come and join in the fun. We take this means of thanking our superintendent and trustees for the wire netting to fence in our school yard. The perfect spellers for this past week are: First

Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Browning of the Casa Blanca community visited Mr. and Mrs. Ray Crisp and children of this community Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. A. Stark and family visited Mr. and Mrs. Anton Shield Sunday. Mrs. D. C. Butler and daughters, Lillie Mae and Fola Faye visited Mrs. W. B. Claybrook Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Branch Linam and Jo Ann visited relatives in Corpus Christi this week end. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Southers and children of Houston were guests in the W. B. Claybrook home last week. Mr. D. C. Butler and Lillie Mae returned from Houston last week end. Miss Lu Ethel accompanied her father back Monday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Stark and baby of Red Bluff spent last week end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Stark. Bobbie Lee Southers of Houston visited school one day last week. Several families from this community attended the Defense program held at Arenosa last Tuesday evening. P. T. A. Notes The second meeting of our newly organized P. T. A. was held at Arenosa Thursday evening, March 5. The children from that school recited a few numbers after, which Miss Ball gave a talk on communicable diseases. The children then played relay games while the young people played ring games. Delicious refreshments of cake, sandwiches, and coffee were served.--Reporter Edna
