J. B. “Scooter” Laxson, 65, of Palacios, died Thursday in a Palacios hospital. Graveside services were held March 28 at 10 a. m. in the Francitas Cemetery with the Rev. James D. Nichols of Houston officiating and under direction of the Jackson County Funeral Service of Edna. Mr. Laxson was born Feb. 26, 1916, in Bandera, and was an employee of Matagorda County. He was a former resident of Jackson County. Surviving are his wife, Mildred of Palacios; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Shanailt? and Mrs. Mittie Glass of Houston; three stepsisters, Mrs. LaVerne Baker of LaWard and Ms. Dovie Gresham and Mrs. Barbara Skruppa of Ganado; stepson, the Rev. Dennis E. Vyvial of LaWard; four sisters, Mrs. Lois Anderson of Pledger, Mrs. Gladys Kelley of Blessing, Mrs. Erma Lee Campbell of Palacios and Mrs. Lillian Wallack of South Houston; 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Jesse Edgar Laxson of Freeport were held at the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel Monday afternoon, Sept. 8 at 2 o’clock with the Rev. Dennis Vyvyial officiating. Interment was in the Francitas Cemetery. Son of James and Georgia Mae Deggs Laxson, he was born March 31, 1914 in Bandera, Texas. A retired carpenter, he died Saturday, Sept. 6, in John Sealy Hospital in Galveston. He is survived by two daughters, Margaret Curlee of West Columbia and Patsy Slaughter of Clute; four sisters, Lillian Walleck of Houston; Mrs. Yancey Campbell of Palacios, Mrs. A. O. Anderson of Pledger and Mrs. Anthus Kelly of Blessing; one brother, James Laxson of Palacios and 15 grandchildren. Palacios Beacon, September 11, 1975

Funeral services for Mildred A. Laxson, 75, of Edna were held Aug. 4, 1993, at 1 p. m. in the United Pentecostal Church in La Ward, the Rev. Dr. C. L. Dees, the Rev. L. Craig Ashcraft and the Rev. Kendall Graves officiated. Interment followed in LaBauve Cemetery in Francitas under the direction of Jackson County Funeral Service of Edna. Pallbearers were Vernon Gresham, Robbie Baker, Mark Skoruppa, Kevin Vyvial, Faron Gresham and Curtis Abdo. Born Aug. 20, 1917, in LaWard to the late Charlie Koch and Lillie Manning Koch, she was a homemaker and a member of New Life Apostolic Church in Louise. Mrs. Laxson died Aug. 1 in a local hospital. Survivors include daughters, LaVerne Block of Port Neches and Dovie Gresham and Barbara Skoruppa, both of Ganado; a step-daughter, Middey Glass of Markham; a son, the Rev. Dennis Vyvial of Houston; sisters, Eva Lee Ludecke of Bay City and Joyce Hudson of Edna; a stepsister, Mildred Cox of Edna; a brother, Charles Koch of Edna; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward J. Vyvial, on Oct. 16, 1944; her second husband, James B.
