A few of Mrs. Alma Mitchell’s neighbors surprised her on her birthday Thursday night in her sister’s home, Mrs. Kate Yoas. They were Mr. and Mrs. Ben Huseman, Mr. and Mrs. Bob DeHaven and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Girndt. They spent an enjoyable evening. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Martin and Mr. and Mrs. Bob DeHaven and Mrs. Annie Lancaster of Ganado visited Mrs. Lenore Meador on Friday night. E. F. Girndt celebrated his 88th birthday Friday night in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Girndt. Those who were present were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Girndt and Mr. and Mrs. Boots Girndt of Edna, Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Adler and family and Mrs. Martha Ludwig, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Huseman, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Girndt and Mr. and Mrs. Alton Girndt and family.

Mr. and Mrs. Leon Wofford of Ganado visited his folks the past week. Those visiting Mrs. Estell Rose Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. G. Kelton of Edna, Mrs. L. Bonton and son of Blessing and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Browning also visited here. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Sparks visited her folks, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Griffith Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Pearce of Edna was visiting folks here Saturday. Well, we sure do have a lots of measles cases going around. I hope everybody gets over them and gets to go back to school soon. Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Feldhousen and family of Houston visited here over the weekend. Mrs. James Black and family and Mrs. Clara Dean Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Dorf of Houston visited with Mr. and Mrs. Sonny Feldhousen Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Lindmood of Palacios also visited them.

Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Wofford had all of their children home for Mother’s Day. H. G. Whorton has returned from Denver, Colo. where he visited an uncle. Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Capak visited in Edna Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Capak also had his sister and family visiting them Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Shecif [Shelcik?] visited her folks, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Walleck and family. Mrs. Clara Dean spent Mother’s Day weekend in Markham with her son and family. Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Feldhousen Jr. visited the Harvey Swensons Sunday. Well, I hope everybody is about over the measles; it looks like everybody is having them. Mrs. Estell Rose was in El Campo Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Long and family visited with the L. J. Capak Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Curtiss Wofford had their folks visiting them over the weekend. Those visiting in the L. W. Feldhousens the past week were Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Gangle and family of El Campo, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Lala of Victoria, Mrs. Mary Strauss of Ganado and Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Koch of Palacios. Mrs. Estell Rose spent Thursday until Monday in Edna and they motored to Houston over the weekend to visit her brother, Harvey Browning, who is in the hospital there. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Griffith visited his folks the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Walpole and family were visiting in Stockdale the past weekend. Mrs. Clara Dean spent the weekend in Markham with her son and family. The event of the past week was a housewarming given for Mrs. Jim Harris. Everybody sure did enjoy it and she received a lot of nice gifts. We sure did enjoy the nice rain that we got Sunday night. I bet the farmers were sure glad to get it. We are sorry to report that J. W. Wofford has been sick the past week. We hope you are feeling better by now. Miss Vivian Wofford and Miss Shirley Walpole attended a party at the Vanderbilt park Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. Buster Henson of Houston visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Parrish. Mr. and Mrs. Don Bozeman of Fort Worth visited her sister, Mrs. W. H. Parrish over the weekend. Mary Whorton had her tonsils taken out Saturday in the Ganado hospital. Mr. and Mrs. B. G. Green are home from Louisville, Kentucky, where they visited their son, Milburn. Mr. and Mrs. E. l. Feldhousen and family of Houston visited the Feldhousens over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Capak and family and Mrs. Estell Rose visited in Edna Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Allen of Edna visited the Wofford’s family Sunday. We are sorry to hear that Mary Whorton has been back in the hospital. We hope she is home and feeling better by now. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Lind, Moo visited with the Walpoles and Feldhousens Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Capak and sons and Mrs. Estell Rose and Mr. and Mrs. Sonny Feldhousen and family visited with Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Browning Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Joines and family enjoyed a trip through Tennessee the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Edison Carvell and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Green of Beaumont visited Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Parrish and family. The event of the past week was a wiener roast for the young folks. Everybody had a real nice time. Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Henson of Houston visited Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Parrish. Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Parrish also visited in Palacios a few days with Mrs. A. T. Lincum. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Walpole and family have moved across the river. We hope they like their new home.

Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Huseman and girls of Vanderbilt visited Mr. and Mrs. Ben Huseman after visiting his aunt, Mrs. Henry Huseman who is still in the El Campo hospital, on Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Luekemeyer of Ganado visited Mr. and Mrs. Pete Huseman Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Bob DeHaven and La Juan visited. Mr. and Mrs. Ewalt Tonnias and boys of Port Lavaca Sunday the 6th. Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Mayers of Point Comfort visited Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Girndt on Wednesday night.

Brother and Mrs. Griffin of Fort Worth returned home Sunday night after holding a revival here the past week at the Baptist church. Mr. and Mrs. George Capak and family of Palacios visited with Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Capak the past week. Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Walters and Mrs. Brown of Blessing attended the revival Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Walpole have their niece visiting with them. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Dean and family visited with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Harris Saturday. Those visiting in the L. W. Feldhousen Sr. home the past week were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Arsak of Louise, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Koch and family of Palacios, Mr. and Mrs. Roszer and granddaughter, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Gangle and family of El Campo. Mrs. Johnny Webb and children visited the Walpoles one night the past week. Mrs. L. W. Feldhousen Jr. attended a fair meeting in LaWard Monday.
