New LaWard to Francitas Road Officially Open

The new Farm-Market Road from LaWard to Francitas and on to the Matagorda County line has been officially opened, according to E. J. Effenberger, resident engineer for the State Highway Department.

Completion of the new hardtop highway had been delayed by frequent and heavy rains. There has been some traffic on the road for several weeks, while finishing touches were being added on the job.

The new stretch covers about nine and one-half miles. This week the highway department was putting up the various highway signs.

This project is a part of what is known as the Blue Water Highway along the Coast, and which will eventually be extended.
