Construction of A. T. Kellogg Cotton Gin and Ice Plant |
|||
A. T. Kellogg's Cotton Gin and Ice Plant From the very first time I came to this country from Illinois nearly two years ago, I was very much impressed with its capabilities. There was some reason for the many people coming here, and I found out what the reason was in a very short time. The wonderful productivity of the soil; the magnificent climate, and the splendid water made it a place where people who want the good things of life must come. So much faith did I have in it, after going over all of the conditions thoroughly, that I erected a Cotton Gin and Ice Plant when there was only a very small amount of cotton in sight. The large increase in acreage this year over last, and the much larger increase for the coming year convinces me that my judgment was sound. Since I have been here I have been in many different sections of the Gulf Coast Country, and I have no hesitancy in saying that the Francitas District is a little ahead of anything I have seen in the nature of the soil and in the amount of rainfall. The farmer and truck grower cannot make a mistake in locating here.
