(The following tribute to a grand old lady of the Carancahua Community was contributed to the Beacon—The Editor.)
“Give your flowers to the living, Carancahua paused in its busy life last Sunday afternoon to “Give the flowers to the living,” when it honored its oldest citizen. About 100 friends, neighbors and relatives of Carancahua and Olivia gathered at the Community House to wish happy birthday to Mrs. Emma Frankson, who is 90 years young. A beautiful decorated cake with the raised figure “90” studded with white candles held the center of the table, flanked by bouquets of chrysanthemums. Little Gale Abraham, a grand-niece of the honoree, happily blew out the light candles. Many were the kind remarks made about this outstanding woman and each one wished her many more birthdays that she might continue to shed her sweet serenity on one and all, but for “Grandma” Frankson the evening sun is sinking low and she knows that before very long she will see her Savior, whom she loves so much. Especially pleasing to her and touching her deeply was the fine tribute paid to her by her pastor, the Rev. Wm. Schultze, as he spoke of her fine Christian character and how her example and influence had “helped this small community.” “To one and all,” he said, “she is a friend and lovingly called, ‘Grandma’ Frankson, but to me, she is a wise counselor, a helping hand, and a beloved mother-in-law.” We wish to thank each and every one for the beautiful gifts and especially do we wish to thank Mr. and Mrs. George Hunter for the lovely orchid corsage, which she so proudly wore. They were the first orchids she had ever had.—Mrs. Maynard Frankson.

"Servant of God Well done, J. C. Gibbons, Pastor Methodist Church Carancahua Grandpa Frankson has gone away and we all miss him. He had been here with us a long time and we all learned to love him, but his familiar figure, his pleasant words and kindly smile with be ours to enjoy no more. We had a service at the Carancahua Church Sunday afternoon. He gave us the lot on which it stands--and a large crowd of neighbors and friends were there to show their love and pay their respects.
