Judge Thompson—At a
meeting last Saturday I had a petition drawn up endorsing you for
re-election which I mail you today. The petition, as you will see,
has been signed by the bar, physicians, ministers, merchants
teachers and I others In circulating among the people generally,
both white and black, I find that they are, as a unit, for your
re-election. In fact I have been unable to find a single person who
opposed your claims, or has a word to utter against your past
administration. Of course I could have gotten every one to sign the
petition but did not deem it necessary. With best wishes I remain
your friend and supporter. F. Dickson, Editor of the Progress.
We, the undersigned
citizens of Jackson County, regardless of political affiliations,
thoroughly appreciating the impartiality. ability and integrity with
which our district judge, Hon. Wells Thompson, has discharged his
official duties, do hereby give him our unqualified endorsement and
pledge him our support in his candidacy for re-election as district
judge of this, the 23rd judicial district.
