Having parents that realized the importance of education and she went to live with her aunt Estella Burns in order to attend high school. After graduating from Ball High School in Seguin, Ella attended Barber College to become a licensed beautician. On Aug. 31, 1935, she opened Cook's Beauty Salon in Edna.
