She was born June 9, 1906, in Edna to the late Isaac
and Emma Watson Barnes. The homemaker was a member of Scruggs United
Methodist Church.
Survivors: husband, Frank Adams; daughters, Lovell
Callis of Edna and Josephine Brigham of Houston; son, Cloyd Griffin of
Houston; brother, George Barnes of Edna; 11 grandchildren, 17
great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: son, Lloyd Griffin.
Visitations will be held from 11 a. m. to 7 p. m.
today at Cook-Butler Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 1 p. m. Friday at Scruggs

He was born Feb. 22, 1911, in Gonzales to the late
Anderson and Harriett Smith Adams. He was a retired contractor.

hospital Wednesday night following a lengthy illness, will be from the

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maxine Alexander,
three daughters, Mrs. Bettie White and Mrs. Gladys Gardener Ross, both
of Victoria, and Mrs. Alice Cooper of Oklahoma City, two sons, Solomon
of San Antonio and Julius of Galveston, and 15 grandchildren.

She was born Dec. 23, 1928, in Morales, to the late
Henry and Rachel Diggs Hines. She was a Baptist.

EDNA--Irvin Donnell "Rub" Boston Sr., 42, of Edna,
died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999.
He was born June 17, 1957, in Ganado, to Olean Callis
Boston of Ganado and the late Savalia Boston. He was a laborer with
Mercer Construction Company and was a member of Oakmon United Methodist
Church in Ganado.

morning in a Victoria hospital.
He was born July 19, 1919, in Jackson County and was
a veteran of World War II. He was employed by Parker Brothers Gravel and
Cement Co. of Victoria.

Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Roberts officiating.

Ruth Delores Barnes Brooks, of Edna, passed away
Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012 at the age of 66. She was born in Ganado, Texas,
on Nov. 8, 1945, to the late Meck and Minnie Stovall Barnes.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Regina L. Brooks of
Edna; sons, Jonathan W. Brooks and wife Estelle M. of Austin, Gregory L.
Brooks of Utopia, and Leonard V. Brooks of Wylie; and sister, Alfreda
Gaskin of Edna. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death
by her former husband, LV Brooks; sister, Nettie Mae Griggs; adn
brother, William James Barnes.
Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 26 from 5 - 7 p. m.,
at Oaklawn Funeral Home in Edna. Funeral services will be held at 11:30
a. m., on Saturday, Oct. 27 at Oaklawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow
in Hines Cemetery. Pastor Walter Grant, Jr. will be officiating.

Mr. Bryant was born Jan. 31, 1926 in Jackson County,
and was self-employed. He died Thursday in an Edna nursing home.
He is survived by his father, William Bryant of Port
Lavaca; his stepmother, Mrs. Odessa Bryant of Edna; three sons, C. J.
Barnes of Edna and Eddie Bryant Jr. and Bobby Ray Bryant, both of
LaMarque; two daughters, Mrs. Nellie Louise Clark of Houston and Mrs.

Primrose, Johnnie and Linda Gail Bryant, all of Edna and Sandra Bryant
of Victoria; five sons, Everett, Darren and Kevin Bryant, all of Edna,
Reginald Bryant of Angleton and Curtis Bryant with the U. S. Army,
currently stationed in Belgium; a sister, Edith Chinn of Edna; a

22 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son and a daughter.
