Funeral Services For Wm. M. Tate, 75, Are Held Sunday

Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p. m. from the First Baptist Church in Edna for William M. Tate, 75, Jackson County farmer, who died at his home on Route 1 Friday after a two-day illness.

Rev. Frank Hollan, Rev. T. D. Felts and Bro. Elswick officiated and burial was in the Edna Cemetery. The Slavik Funeral Home had charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were James M. Denard, Clyde E. Finch, C. F. Hoffman, R. G. Holt, Georgie Koop and J. J. Moon.

Mr. Tate was born March 24, 1876, in Lavaca County. He moved to this county 28 years ago. He was a highly esteemed resident of the county and his passing has caused much sorrow.

Surviving are five children, Luster Vaughn Tate of Longview, Roy Lee Tate, Mrs. Gertrude Cadwell and Norville Jewell Tate of Edna, and Glenn Holman Tate of Beeville; four brothers; four sisters; and 13 grandchildren.

Horatio, Ark.--Lois Maxey Tate Cosper, 77, of Horatio, Ark., died Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997.

She was born Jan. 27, 1920. She was a homemaker and was a member of First Baptist Church of Franklin, La.

Survivors: husband, Tommy Cosper of Horatio Ark.; son, Bruce Tate of Hobbs, N. M.; sisters, Mildred Cantrell of Horatio, Ark., and Edith Hawes of Victoria; one grandson; and one great-grandson.

Services will be at 10 a. m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Edna, the Rev. Bobby Hodnett officiating.

Burial will be at Memory Gardens of Edna, Slavik Funeral Home, Edna, 782-2152.

Pallbearers: Neil Hoskins, Donald Hoskins, Harold Argo, Perry Sappington, Bud Sappington and Thomas Contrell.
