October 1924

Thomas Leland Taylor, a prominent and well-to-do land owner and farmer of near Dorchester, died at his home at 6:50 o'clock Friday evening from the effects of an injury suffered more than a year ago when hooked by a cow on his place.  The injury led to complications which had become serious in the past few months.
Mr. Taylor was a native of Mississippim but lived in Grayson county for more than 30 years.  He formerly lived in the Farmington community near Howe.  He moved near Dorchester about 10 years ago, buying a farm there, and since that time he had accumulated considerable property near Dorchester.  He was the owner of several large and valuable farms.
Funeral services were held from the late home at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Wallace, pastor of the Baptist church at Dorchester, of which Mr. Taylor was a member.  The services were conducted at the community mausoleum in Sherman, at West Hill cemetery, where the body was placed in a crypt.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife; five children residing at home; and the following brothers and sisters: J.S. Taylor of Gunter; S.R. Taylor, George L. Taylor, Haskell; Mrs. Ola Jones, Gunter; Mrs. Annie Culwell, Celina; Mrs. Sallie Scoggins, Tioga.
Mr. Taylor was 46 years of age.
Mr. Taylor was a cousin of Spencer and Creed Taylor of Van Alstyne, to whom, with the other relatives, the sympathy of their friends all over this community is accorded.
