Scott 1917 - 2011 The Dallas Morning News December 4, 2011 Mary Elizabeth Smith Scott, 94, of Richardson, Texas passed from her earthly life to be with her Lord and Saviour on November 30, 2011. She was born in Sherman, Texas on October 17, 1917, daughter of Ben F. and Mary E. Smith. Mary graduated from Highland Park High School and attended Southern Methodist University where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha. Mary was a beloved member of Highland Park UMC for over 80 years. She was a member of the Dallas Area Historic Rose Society, Dallas Rose Society, Charline Palmer Garden Club, Le Bonnie Bleu Garden Club, and Parnassus Book Club. She worked for the U.S. Federal Government for 41 years. She was preceded in death by her soul-mate and beloved husband, Samuel F. Scott; brothers, Whitley, Jack, G.B.R. Smith; and sister, Lena Brown-Logan (who raised her). Mary is survived by her dear niece, Margaret Brewer;nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and nephews. She grew award winning roses and loved sharing them with others. Mary enjoyed traveling, boating, and watching the Dallas Cowboys. She was truly blessed by the love she received from her friends and neighbors. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, December 6, 2011 at Highland Park UMC; internment followed at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the We Care Ministry at Highland Park UMC or a charity of your choice.
