December 29, 1896 Mr. Allen Blake, at that time in charge of the transfer of mail from non-terminal trains, but formerly the county tax assessor, remarked that the date of May 26th was a very important one in his life and he always looked for something significant to happen to him on that day. He was born May 26, 1832, twenty-five years later on May 26, 1857, he was married; four years later on May 26, 1861 he enlisted in the Confederate Army in the Civil War and on May 26, 1865, he returned home from the war. The Denison Herald Tuesday, March 6, 1906 pg.3 MORTUARY Sherman, Tex., March 5 - Mrs. Allen Blake, aged 67 years, died at the family home, No. 756 South First Street, last night of pneumonia. Deceased has resided in Sherman a number of years and was well and favorably known. She is survived by a son, Frank Blake; and a daughter, Mrs. A. Wilson, both residents of Sherman.
