were held Thursday afternoon in the Waldo Funeral Chapel for Truitt
Brannum, 48, machinist for Roman Wire Company, of 1102 E. Houston St.,
who died Tuesday at a Sherman hospital. Services were conducted by Rev. Bob Williams of the Belmont Baptist Church with burial at West Hill Cemetery. Mr. Brannum was born in Grayson County, son of Mrs. Roxy Coker Brannum and George F. Brannum. He was married to Loretta Hall on December 13, 1950 at McAlester, Oklahoma. He was a machinist at Roman Wire Company for 27 years; served with the U.S. Marine Corps for 3 years; was a member of the American Veterans and the Grayson Bible Baptist Church. Survivors are his wife and mother, both of Sherman; sons, George Truiitt Brannum and Tommy Brannum; daughter, Miss Roxy Brannum; brother, James T. Brannum; sisters, Zelma Dee Brannum, Mrs. Ruth May, Mrs. Georgia Evans, all of Sherman; and 3 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Marvin Douglas, George Brannum, Bud Morrison, Duan Hall, Presley Jones, Herb Roman, John Shaw and Joe Bumpas. Funeral services for Thomas Charles Ray Brannum I, of Sherman, TX will be held at 10:00AM Saturday, August 28, 2010 graveside at the West Hill Cemetery in Sherman. Services are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman. He passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at the Texas Health Presbyterian-WNJ Hospital in Sherman. Tommy was born on October 4, 1955 in Sherman, TX the son of Truitt and Loretta Jo "Joie" Hall Brannum. He married Susan Elaine Mihalakis on December 9, 1972 in Sherman. Tommy worked at Burlington Industries from 1972 until its closure. He then earned his degree in Industrial Maintenance and started his own welding company. Tommy befriended and opened his home to several people throughout his life. His compassion didn't end with just people it extended to his many animals and pets which he considered family. Tommy enjoyed hunting and fishing but his favorite past time was drinking coffee at several coffee shops with his friends. He is survived by his wife Susan Brannum of Sherman, three sons, Tommy Brannum II, Jessie Brannum and Travis Brannum and wife Janey, sister, Roxie Miller and husband Don all of Sherman, brother, George Brannum of Sherwood Shores, TX, four grandchildren, Natalie, Todd, Travis and Tyler Brannum. He was also survived by several other family and friends. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Pallbearers will be George Brannum, Travis Brannum, Jessie Brannum, Tommy Brannum, Casey Brannum, Raymond Wright, Todd Brannum, Travis Brannum and Dean Hall. The family will be accepting friends at 203 N. Woods for friends who would like to come by. Family night will be held on Friday, August 27, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Waldo Funeral Home.
