McDuffie 4 November 1818 - 27 August 1902 The Houston Post Saturday, August 30, 1902 Pg. 10 MEXICAN WAR VETERAN DEAD William Stoker McDuffie, Who Served Under Jefferson Davis, Passes Away Sherman, Texas, August 27 - William Stoker McDuffie, aged 84 years, a veteran of the Mexican War and an ex-Confederate, died this evening at his home, 509 East Pacific Avenue. The deceased had resided in Collin and Grayson counties 50 years. He was a native of Georgia and enlisted in Colonerl Jefferson Davis' regiment for the Mexican War as a Georgia volunteer. At the close of the war he remained in Texas. He was a Mason and his burial will be under the auspices of that order tomorrow afternoon.
