- Funeral services for Marion Lavine Mackey were held Thursday, October
13, at Waldo Funeral Home. Dr. Ryan Counsell officiated.
Burial followed at West Hill Cemetery. Mr. Mackey passed
away Sunday, October 9, at Texoma Healthcare Center. Marion was born May 9, 1939 in Sherman to Marion and Birdie Fletcher Mackey. He served in the U.S. Army and worked as a truck driver for over 40 years until diabetes forced his retirement. Mr. Mackey is survived by on daughter, Debra Mackey of Sherman; son, Ryan Counsell and wife, Marija, of Bellevue, Michigan; 7 grandchildren: Carla Mulvaney of Denison; Christie Mackey of Sherman; Rekeisha Jones of Austin; Robbie Mackie of Dallas; and Flory, Floyd, and Ellen Counsell, all of Bellevue, Michigan; He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Faye Mackey; son Richard Mackey and daughter, Darlene Counsell. - - - Waldo Funeral Home Richard D. Mackey 1961 - 2010 SHERMAN - Funeral services for Richard Dawayne Mackey were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 4 at Waldo Funeral Home. Rev. Kelly Gray of the Apostolic Church in Whitesboro officiates. Burial followed at West Hill Cemetery with Michael Fisher, Chris Moncier, Donnie Odle, Chad Spencer, Tony Merrill, and Jimmy Whiteley serving as pallbearers. Mr. Mackey passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010 at the age of 47. Richard was born on June 15, 1962 in Sherman. He attended Sherman schools and worked in remodeling and construction for many years in the Sherman area. For the past five years he owned and operated North Texas Tree Service. Richard, who was always a jokester, will be remembered for his fun and easy going nature. He was a loving grandfather and will be dearly missed by his friends and family. Mr. Mackey is survived by his daughter, Carla Mulvaney of Sherman; granddaughter, Linsey; father, Marion Mackey of Sherman; wife, Suzette Lorance of Sherman; sister, Debra Mackey of McKinney; brother, Ryan Council of Michigan; stepdaughters, Catherine Mulvaney of Sherman, Rhona Flynn of Austin, Jamie Rader of Trenton, and Samantha Lorance of Sherman; seven additional grandchildren; three nieces; and four great-nephews.
