Our loving mother went to be with her Lord on February 14, 2008. She passed away at the Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman. 
Services for Dorothy Lee Kirkland, 86, of Sherman, Texas were held at 10:00 AM Monday, February 18, 2008 at the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Larry J. Blaine of Southmayd Baptist Church officiated the service. Burial followed at the West Hill Cemetery in Sherman. Services were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home.
She was born on February 21, 1921, in New Castle, Texas, the daughter of James Alexander and Margaret Elizabeth (Hooper) Weatherbee. She married Elmer Elton Kirkland on September 28, 1946. He preceded her in death on November 25, 1996 after 50 years of marriage. 
Dorothy is survived by her son Michael Wooldridge and wife Dorothy of Sherman, Texas; daughter Jewell LaDean Casteel of Pasadena, Texas; daughter Joye Gail Thomas and husband Bob of Loganville, Georgia; son Elton Kirkland of Pottsboro, Texas; daughter Sally Graham and husband Roy of Sherman, Texas; son Richard Dale Kirkland and wife Eva of Granger, Texas; 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, one brother J.A. Weatherbee of Rankin, Texas; two sisters, Leta Boyles of Amarillo, Texas and Lucille Thomas of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. 
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother Jake Weatherbee, two sisters, Letha Faye Weatherbee, Nancy Weatherbee and one grandson Mark Gamurot. 
Pallbearers will be her nephews and friends.
