Holbrook, age 80, of Sherman, Texas are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2003 at Fairview Baptist Church with Rev. Lance Price officiating. Waldo Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and interment will be in West Hill Cemetery. Mr. Holbrook passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center. Mr. Holbrook was born December 3, 1923 in Mayking, Kentucky to parents Annias Holbrook and Verdie Pence Holbrook. After graduating from high school in Whitesburg, Kentucky, he attended Erskine College in Due West, South Carolina and then the University of Cincinnati. He married Gerry Adams June 3, 1944 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Mr. Holbrook was awarded numerous medals and citations during duty in the South Pacific with the Army Air Corps during WWII. He retired from Procter & Gamble as mechanical engineer. Nelson R. Holbrook is survived by his wife, Gerry Holbrook of Sherman, Texas; daughters Michele Stegman and husband Ron Stegman of Guilford, Indiana, and Roberta Jackson and husband Ron Jackson of Melissa, Texas; granddaughters, Kira Stegman of Guilford and Shana Stegman of Guilford; brothers, Fred Holbrook, Oliver Holbrook, A.H. Holbrook, Hugh Holbrook and Randall Holbrook; sisters, Laura Garriot and Dorothy Lucas. Mr. Holbrook was preceded in death by his parents. Family visitation is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday, December 19 at Waldo Funeral Home. The family asks that memorials be given to the Fairview Baptist Church Building Fund, 222 W.
