 West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas  Doris Howard Patterson 19 November 1963 - 10 April 2008  Doris M. Patterson, age 44 of Sherman, passed away Thursday morning, April 10, 2008 at the Medical Center of Plano. Services were held Monday morning, April 14, 2008 in the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Joyce Ames of Faith Assembly of God Church in Denison officiated and the burial followed in the Memorial Park section of West Hill Cemetery. Doris was born November 19, 1963 in Sherman, daughter of Rev. Harold Gene "Pete" Howard and Nevalene Pace Howard. The family lived in several different areas because her father was a minister; and she attended schools in Atlanta, Texarkana and DeKalb, all in Texas. She had been disabled most of her life but was a very caring and giving person. Doris was very creative and loved making arts and crafts by hand. She also enjoyed drawing and singing, and was known to be a very excellent singer. Because she was a person who loved other people, she had many friends in the area who dearly loved her and she also had many children who adopted her like a mother because of the love and care she showed them. She is survived by her son, Jeremy Patterson of San Diego, California; current mother, Eloise Howard of Sherman; 2 sisters, Cozetta Finley and husband, Alan, of Texarkana, Texas; and Diane Ponton of Missouri City, Texas; 2 brothers, Tommy Howard of Lufkin; and Michael Howard and wife, Carolyn, of Pottsboro. She was preceded in death by her father, Rev. H.G. Howard in April of 2007; her mother, Nevalene Howard, in January of 1982; and step-brother, Charles Honeycutt.
