 West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas  Mary Kirby Jones 25 October 1954 - Paul Eugene Jones 25 December 1951 - 21 June 2009 wed 5 September 1981  Sherman - Funeral services for Paul Eugene Jones were held at 10:00 am Thursday, June 25 in the Pathway Church of God. Rev. Bill Lee and Rev. Steven Miller officiated with services under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home. Burial followed at West Hill Cemetery with Jason Huffey, Jonathan Huffey, Jeremiah Miller, David Dixon, Rev. Larry Allgood, and John Schilling serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Judge Ray F. Grisham, Philip E. Grubbs, and Rev. Leonard Allgood. Mr. Jones passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 21 at the age of 57 in Des Moines, Iowa. Paul was born on December 25, 1951 in Des Moines, Iowa to Harold and Mary (Bruner) Jones. He attended the Des Moines Christian School, Des Moines Tech High School, and the Ozark Bible Institute in Neosho, Missouri. On September 5, 1981 Paul married Mary Kirby in Sherman. He was a longtime employee at the Herald Democrat and served as the church organist at the Pathway Church of God. Mr. Jones is survived by his wife Mary of Sherman; one daughter, Candace Drew and her husband Derek of Sherman; five grandchildren, Caitlyn Mackenzy and Caleb Micah Stewart and Mariah, Caitlyn, and Alexis Drew; father, Harold E. Jones of Des Moines; one sister, Cindy Pauley and husband Larry of Des Moines; nephews, Jason Huffey and wife Shari of Des Moines, Jonathan Huffey and wife Emily of Des Moines, Larry Daniel Camp and wife, Ginger of Texas, and Jeremiah Steven Miller of Sherman; nieces, Sarah Huffey of Des Moines, Iowa, Kristi Schilling and husband John of Sherman, and Rachel Miller of Sherman; and one great nephew, Seth Schilling. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Alice Jones; one brother, Phillip Leroy Jones; maternal grandparents, Leona and Paul Bruner; and paternal grandparents, James and Effie Jones. Paul Jones was a man with a servant's heart. Never one to seek the spotlight, he took on tasks that others would reject always making the best of even the worst situations. Paul was abundantly blessed by God with musical and creative gifts which he used to share the message of the Gospel with family, friends and strangers. Paul was at home on the organ and piano bench bringing the instruments to life with ease. His voice and heart sang out hymns and songs of praise. These were the tools that he used to usher one into the very presence of God. Through the years Paul has been a faithful servant in the music and children's ministries. He was most often found behind the scene. His sense of humor and love of the Lord was evident in everything that he did. Paul loved life and sharing it with his family and friends was his greatest joy. Paul was devoted to his family and loved them unconditionally. Whether he was at the organ, on the job, or behind a broom, Paul was always in the service of his Lord. Heaven is richer today. It's choir more jubilant, it's praise a bit louder and it's song even sweeter because Paul is there.
