West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas Susan G. Hogue 1847 - 1926 Sherman Democrat December 13, 1926 pg 10 Mrs. J. D. Hogue Mrs. J. D. Hogue, 79 years old, one of the pioneers of Sherman, died at her home, 208 East Cherry street, Sunday morning at 4 o'clock. Funeral services were held from the residence Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. W. A. Harrell of Dallas. Burial was in West Hill cemetery. She is survived by three sons: Arch Hogue, Boulder, Colorado; E. M. Hogue, Houston, and Allen Hogue, Owensmouth, California. She is also survived by a number of grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Mrs. Hogue was born at Buffalo, N.Y. in 1847. She came to Texas, and located at Sherman in 1870. Making the trip to Texas in a wagon, Mrs. Hogue and her family had to contend with the treacherous Indians and outlaws. When they arrived here, there was no brick building. They camped for a short time on Post Oak creek in the west part of the city. She had made her home here for the past 56 years.
