West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas Jean Anderson of Sherman, 84 year-old beautician, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2009 at her home. Services will be 11 AM Saturday, January 2, 2010 in the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. John Plumlee and Rev. Jason Anderson of Trinity Baptist Church will officiate and the burial will follow at West Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation at 10 AM Saturday prior to the service. Jean was born December 2, 1925 in Bonham, Texas, the daughter of Russell Whisenant and Idabell Slagle Whisenant. She graduated from Honey Grove High School in 1943 and later graduated from Sherman Beauty School. She established Careful Beauty Salon in 1956 and for forty-two years she operated her own salon or worked in various shops in the area. She married J. C. Anderson in 1956 and he preceded her in death in 1975. Jean retired from her full time career as a beautician in 1998 and began a new career as a volunteer. She accumulated 10,366 volunteer hours as a member of the Ladies Auxillary for Wilson N. Jones Hospital and Texoma Medical Center. She was a devoted member of Trinity Baptist Church for twenty-six years and was a volunteer for the Home Bound Ministry for eighteen of those years. She enjoyed doing needle work and crafts, visiting persons who were home bound and volunteering. She began styling hair at Waldo Funeral Home in the 1950's and continued providing that service until her health began to fail recently. She is survived by two daughters, Treva Bell and husband John of Bedford and Pat Hall and husband David of Owasso, Okla.; brother, Charles Whisenant and wife Reba of Dallas; four grandchildren, Ginger McClure of Glen Heights, Texas, Cindy Leach and husband Jason of Ft. Worth, Marc Hall and wife Ann of Bethany, Okla. and Shelly Pringle and husband Rob of Keyes, Calif.; also survived by seven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be John Fisher, Don Morrison, Jason Leach, Chris McClure, Derek Smith and Clayton Stringfellow. Honorary pallearers will be Marc Hall and Rob Pringle.
