C 7th Virginia Infantry The Sunday Gazetteer Sunday, August 12, 1894 pg. 1 The Sherman papers early in the week reported the sudden death of J.M. Heaton, Justice Hinkle's clerk, from conjestive chill. An inquest was held and the doctors testified that he had "meningitis and pericarditis," but concluded death was caused by a heart clot.
