The Denison Herald Monday, September 15, 1919 pg. 9 DIED IN CALIFORNIA Sherman, Texas, Sept. 15 - Messages were received in Sherman Sunday announcing the death in California of Mrs. Josie B. Jones, widow of R.L. Jones, pioneer boot and shoe merchant of Sherman. The messages stated that the body would be sent here for burial, and is expected to arrive here Wednesday or Thursday, having left California Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. Jones were among the pioneer settlers in this city. Mr. Jones was a successful merchant, operating one of the first exclusive shoe stores in Sherman, in the building now occupied by Ike Einstein & Brother. He owned considerable property in Sherman, and sold to the Frisco railroad the land in north Sherman on which the Frisco shops and yards are now located. For about 4 years past, Mrs. Jones has been making her home at Madill, Oklahoma, with her daughter, Mrs. Moseley, wife of Rev. Moseley, pastor of the Presbyterian church at Madill.
