- Funeral service for Thomas Kirk May Sr., 67, of Sherman, who died
April 6, 1995 in Baylor Hospital, were Saturday at Dannel Funeral
Home Chapel. Rev. Ben McAnally officiated with burial in West Hill
Cemetery. May was born September 7, 1927 in Whitewright, son of Gomer W. and Jena Lee Kirkpatrick May. He graduated from Whitewright High School and attended Austin College and Texas Tech University. He received a Pharmacy Degree from the University of Texas in Austin in 1952. He served in the Merchant Marines. He married Betty Keyes on January 3, 1954 in McKinney. He was a third generation Grayson County pharmacist, who along with his father owned and operated May Pharmacy. He was a consulting pharmacist for Wilson N. Jones Memorial Hospital and organized the hospital's first pharmacy; a consulting pharmacist for Sherman Nursing Homes. He was a member of the Texas Pharmaceutical Association, Kiwanis Club and chairman of Military Affairs Committee for the Sherman Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife; a son, T. Kirk May Jr., of Dallas; and a daughter, Jena Lynn May of Dallas. Pallbearers were Ellis Olmstead, Joe Fallon, Joe Fields, Rayburn Nall, Dr. John Ellis, Dr. Joe Stout, Jack Hall, Dr. Jack McGee, Tome Moore and Otis Drain. Memorials may be made to donor's favorite charity or to the American Cancer Society, South Grayson Unit, P.O. 735, Sherman, Texas 75090.
