The well-known author, Flavia, wrote: "Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people stay for awhile, and give us a deeper understanding of what is truly important in this life. They touch our souls. We gain strength from the footprints they have left on our hearts, and we will never ever be the same."
Lillian Ellen Kile was born November 8, 1917, and grew up in Whitesboro. She passed away at Homestead of Sherman on Wednesday evening, December 22, 2010. Dannel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010 at West Hill Cemetery. Officiating was Rev. Louella Williams of Virginia Point United Methodist Church.
Lillian was a member of Key Memorial United Methodist Church. During her early years, she was a devoted member and spent much of her time teaching Sunday School during those years. She made sure her two daughters grew up with her same Christian beliefs. She received a teaching degree in Denton, which is now the University of North Texas. She taught for several years and then moved on to other careers outside the home. She was employed at Grayson County State Bank and achieved the title of Officer. Later, she was employed at Burlington Industries as a bookkeeper. Her last position was at Kelly Square, working Petite Fleur Gifts at Kelly Square for Honey Minshew. She truly loved Kelly Square, especially Honey, and all the other merchants at the Square.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mattie and Sam Boston; her husband, Athel Kile; two brothers, Ralph and Lloyd Boston; nephew, Ronnie Boston; and grandson, Barrett Lynn Brown.
Survivors include two daughters, Judyth Swinney of Tyler and Donna L. Anderson of Sherman; seven grandchildren, Tony Brown, Todd Brown, Stephen Sloan, Sara Sloan, Suzy Jones, plus Katherine Reiser and Karen Jobe. She was blessed with three great grandchildren, Sarah Jones, Blake and Dallas Brown; two nephews, Jerry and Jack Boston; and a niece, Janis Nesbett.
Her family and friends are truly blessed to have had all the wonderful memories she left us. She led a modest life, never wanting much except happiness for her two daughters and their families. Her beautiful, quiet, unassuming personality will have a lasting impact on all of us. We especially remember the holiday seasons. She labored for hours to prepare our favorite foods and have gifts under the tree. That warmth and love will never be forgotten. We are hopeful, as we live out our lives, that we continue her legacy of love and giving to others.
In lieu of flowers, please send a contribution to Alzheimer's Association National Office, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601, or your favorite charity.
