The Herald Democrat June 8, 2006 Roberta was born in Lordsburg, New Mexico, daughter of Robert Corbell and Edna Pruitt. She married Bill Steele March 31, 1956. After moving to Sherman, Roberta became a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Sherman, teaching 1st and 2nd grade Sunday School for over 40 years. She was also an active member of the Grayson County Jail Ministry. Roberta passed away at the Northwest Texas Medical Center in Amarillo, Texas. She was preceded in death by her father; sister, Rita Lindsay; and two step-fathers, Ulrich Miller and Frank Cleveland. She is survived by her husband of 50 years; daughters, Debbie Ritchey and husband Scott and Linda Yeilding and husband Philip; son Willie Steele and wife Keri; six grandchildren, Laura Ritchey, Sarah Ritchey, Mathew Ritchey, Michael Yeilding, Allyn Steele, and Blake Steele, all of Sherman; her mother; brother, Gary Corbel and wife Connie. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church of Sherman with Dr. Mike Lawson officiating with the assistance of Dr. Tom Brandon. Scottsdale - Funeral services for Charles William "Bill" Steele were held Monday, November 26 at Sherman Bible Church, followed by private committal services at West Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mathew Ritchey, Scott Ritchey, Michael Yeilding, Philip Yeilding, Blake Steele, Jared Hays, Matt Waggoner, and David Feller. Mr. Steele, 78, died November 18, 2012 at Hospice of the Valley Center in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was born March 5, 1934 in Danville, Illinois, son of Charles Marion Steele and Margaret J. Judge. He graduated from Lordsburg High School as Salutatorian in May 1952 and in 1957 from New Mexico State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. After graduaton Bill was employed by Texas Instruments but served as a navigator in the U.S. Air Force as a 2nd Lieutenant at James Connelly Air Force Base before starting work at TI in Dallas. One of his first assignments was Program Manager for the F-111 terrain following radar system. Following this he worked with the APQ 126 programs which was an attack radar system built for LTV. He later served for the Radar Systems Division before joining the Calculator Division in Dallas as Manufacturing Manager. Included in his 36 years of service, Bill served as Site Plant Manager for Lubbock, TI, Midland TI, and Sherman TI before he retired in August 1993. Bill married Roberta Gene Corbell March 31, 1956 and was married for over 50 years; after Roberta's death, Bill married Margaret Sergent on March 26, 2008. He is survived by his wife and three children, all of Sherman; 5 grandchildren; sister Karen Steele Feller and husband Dave of Durango, Colorado; half-brother, Marshall Steele of Silver City, New Mexico; and half-sister, Marion Steele Woods of Somerville, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years; his father and mother and step-father, Foy Powell.
