Sherman Democrat March 21, 1951 pg. 10 Mrs. Edwin C. Tate, 52, died at a local hospital Tuesday following an illness of 2 years. Her home was on South Rusk. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at Forest Avenue Baptist Church with burial in West Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Tate was born July 26, 1898 in Oklahoma, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James F. Springer. She was married to E.C. Tate on March 9, 1919 at Farmersville. She was a member of Forest Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband; 5 sons, James H. Tate, U.S. Army; Marvin L. Tate & Joe Carl Tate of Sherman; Chester L. Tate of Wichita Falls; and Troy J. Tate, U.S. Navy stationed in San Diego, California; 2 daughters, Miss Helen E. Tate of Sherman; and Mrs. Dorothy L. Cushman of Waco; 3 brothers, Arthur Springer of Arkansas; Harlan Springer of California; and Jesse Springer of Ft. Worth; 4 sisters, Mrs. Cathey Murray of California; Mrs. Fannie Hayes of Farmersville; Miss Bertie Springer of Plano; and Mrs. Carrie Huber of McKinney; 6 grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Sherman Democrat December 15-17, 1954 Funeral services for E.C. Tate of S. Rusk were held Sunday in Forrest Avenue Baptist Church with burial in West Hill Cemetery. E.C. Tate, 62, died in a Wichita Falls hospital Wednesday morning after an illness of one year. He was a retired employe of Poole Manufacturing Co. Mr. Tate was a native of Vinson, Alabama and the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Tate. His late wife was the former Miss Alice Springer of Farmersville. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include 5 sons, J.H. Tate of Sherman; M.L. Tate of Borger; J.D.Tate of Adrian, Michigan; and C.L. Tate of Branham; & T.J. Tate of the U.S. Navy; 2 daughters, Mrs. Bruce Cushman of Waco and Mrs. Bennie Miller of New London, Connecticut; 2 brothers, D.B. Tate of Gunter and L.L. Tate of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; 4 sisters, Mrs. Charlie Whitehead of Hereford; Mrs. Laura McCloud of Blue Ridge; Mrs. Joe Laney of Celina; and Mrs. Lula Common of Los Angeles, California; and 8 grandchildren.
